I've mentioned this before, but getting some money for him, rather than nothing, allows us to buy a replacement. Agents are a curse and only look at the cash they can make from transfers etc., rather than the player and his career. As some posters have said, he may not make it abroad, but hey, he's earning loads of cash and that's what matters these days. Younger players especially are vulnerable and should seek sensible advice before just letting agents move them on. I'm not too worried about him going as long as we get a suitable replacement.
I think that’s a bit harsh, can’t blame him for wanting to play at a higher level while also earning more money, the agent might (unlikely) actually feel he is acting in the players interests. Is it not sensible advice to sign for Bordeaux?
Although if the rumours of his behaviour are true he has acted like a bit of a twat.

I don’t think anyone will be too worried if we sign a suitable replacement, it’s finding and getting the suitable replacement that’s the hard bit.

  • He was offered what he and his agent asked for
  • He told JR he was signing
  • The next day his agent rang SSN to say he wasn’t
  • He’s now cleared out his locker and walked away.
I’d have loved him to stay but not at any cost. I accept that a lot of the information we have has come from the club, but I’ll say again if it’s untrue why hasn’t his agent, the bloke that couldn’t wait to ring SSN to say he wasn’t signing, the day after he told JR he was, gone back to SSN to discredit the club and defend his player

Maja is just a ****, end of.

Best not try to comprehend it, just glance over it and move on trying to find posts that are actually about the thread and not 'insinuation / anger / victimhood / name Calling'.

I do not want to detail this thread as it seems to be getting back on topic, but I agree. Rather than respond, just need to focus on the relevant and appropriate posts.

Also on a personal level, it must not be a nice feeling if you feel everyone is against you and making negative personal comments in response to your posts, there is a bit of mob mentality going on.

One off the great things about this board is the support it provides when people are going through hard times.. This individual is obviously having problems, the responses he is receiving are not going to help him.

Would rather he'd stayed but think we've done well to get £3.5mill considering he's only got 6 months left. Even better if as has been suggested there is a sell on clause in place. Would have had more respect for him/his agent if he's done what Eaves at Gillingham did in December. Basically said I won't be signing a new deal rather than all this dragging it out.

Has the £3.5!million been agreed?

I would try and sign Eaves - thing he would be a good fit for the club!

Good points, and I was referring to agents in general looking after themselves first. In Maja's case, I don't blame him for having his head turned signing for Bordeaux, however, I still think the agent would have heavily advised him to move, although for someone who has just established himself in League One, it would have been better to stay until the end of the season at least, having signed a new contract with plenty of 'get out' clauses.

Always is. Its uncalled for, and no doubt he'll get banned for defending himself, its absolutely ridiculous.

He's allowed to have an opinion, you say your bit, then leave it or put him on ignore. Some posters just enjoy getting stuck in

Why? Its a football forum man people take it way too serious
Some posters seem to get rounded on, for having an opinion..

Too busy trying to translate a contract from French to English.

Some fair points but scoring a goal is the hardest thing to do in football

You can’t just say he’s just a finisher, it’s the hardest skill in football

I see you've swallowed the football cliche handbook.

It's the most important. It's not the hardest.

Think it was Freddy Adu interviewed recently who said young players now are simply told not to fuck about, if a better move comes then take it, could all disappear tomorrow.

I’d guess that financially it would have been better to sit it out to the end of the season with no new contract and be a free agent, although it carries a deal of risk as well.
