It's not his goals that I'm concerned about losing, it's his conversion rate.

We don't create many chances and haven't all season. From what I've seen in League One from other sides there's not many (/any) players about at this level that create something out of nothing for themselves and tend to score the majority of chances presented to them. We're going to need to have a fundamental change or improvement in the way we play or i think we'll definitely struggle to replicate our results from the first half of the season.
the big change has been that its now only maja that scores..earlier in the season, yes maja scored, but so did a lot of other players..and we scored more than one goal a game..turning draws into wins..thats not happening now..

I totally disagree with the first half of what you say and couldn't agree more with teh second half. He's not been truthful to the management team or the owners - if he really wanted to sign then he would have. What has happened instead is it's been dragged out for weeks, with him moving very close to the end of the window instead, and probabl one of the worst moves for the club business-wise. He's looked after himself and no-one more, and in that regard is nothing better than the loads of players that traipse through here on their way elsewhere. Fuck him, I hope his career is shite from here on.
It’s Ross I feel for in all this. He obviously rates the lad as a player and likes him as a person. This has been a canny kick in the knackers for him.

Complete no brainer.

If he’s decided he’s going to leave and go abroad, then the tribunal fee we’d get in the summer would be minimal. £3.5m is a lot of money at our level. More importantly, if any player doesn’t want to play for us, they can fuck off. Gone are the days - I hope - when a centre forward with 15 senior career goals (only one of which above the third tier) can take the piss, or act like he’s doing us a favour by turning out on a Saturday.

Maja out, two in who actually want to play for SAFC.
Who has said he doesn’t want to play for us? He still has and has scored

This is only good business if:
a) what we get is re invested in proven quality
b) A proven goal scorer is brought in

Anything less and it is going to be a poor move as a club

We put a right back as a right back and get O'Nein further up field which will help in some way but we need a striker who will get us goals in this league. Tin hat on, Patrick Bamford

Purely from a financial point of view, keeping him until the summer instead up bringing in “up to” £3.5m probably makes sense. However, would he score as many goals between now and May? Has his head been turned? Would he be committed etc?

It’s not as easy as a lot of people seem to think.

Start of the window I'd have been fine with it but now there's just over a week to go bit worried he won't be replaced

not sure the French league is the best move for him mind but can't really blame him for moving. done well to get £3.5m if true

now if we'd stop f***ing about and get the Will Grigg deal sorted i don't think we'll miss his goals

Pretty much my thoughts on it. Dissappointing to see him fuck off after half a season of decent form. Just seems a strange place to go really.

"A deal the could rise to £3.5m" we won't get £3.5m to invest in players.
Still has to be relatively big investment for this level between now and the deadline. Even if 1.5 million is the upfront fee that’s huge at this level. The next week is massive, one of the biggest in our history.

Who has said he doesn’t want to play for us? He still has and has scored

I’m taking the massive step of putting 2 and 2 together and saying when (i) there’s an offer on the table from us; (ii) there’s an offer on the table from Bordeaux; and (iii) he signs for Bordeaux - he realises that this means not playing for SAFC.
