Sorry like but signing and developing a young player isn't lucky if they come good like it isn't unlucky if they don't make the grade.I think we got fairly lucky. Yes, people at the club knew he was a talent, knew he was a decent finisher, knew he had a good touch etc. He was, however, completely unproven at league level. He wasn't a revelation in the few chances he got last season. They can work with him and deserve credit for the improvement as a player but I seriously doubt if anyone at the club thought he'd be scoring as consistently as he is (pretty sure he didn't score at this rate in the youths for example). If he'd had a bit more trouble adapting to the league then we'd have been in big trouble, especially with Wyke getting the injury on his comeback and Sinclair being pretty woeful as a striker. For all the work we put in at pre season its only Maja having a really impressive breakthrough season that has got us anywhere near competing for automatic promotion.

We can't afford the luxury to sit and wait....
Nor.....
I think it is mind. Didn't SD say that when he first took over? Something about having to sign some forms confirming we'd actively look at reducing the wage bill as it was far too high in comparison to turnover, therefore signings could only be made if he was seen to be doing this?
If we invested even half of it into the team, I doubt we'd miss him.5m ? Snap their hands off.

Saying that though, why would anyone splash large amounts of cash on him now, when they know that he will be a free agent in the summer. It's probably on his mind too. Why would he sign for someone now, when if he waits till summer, he can weigh up all of his available options and pick the best one for him, personally. After all, we can't make him move now, can we? Him and his agent are holding all of the Aces as I see itI also think as the days go by we have a greater and greater risk of losing him for nothing in the summer.
Your breakfast is more intelligent than you Mary. Some people are beyond educashun.....
yep..the turnover has gone up a lot because of the work of stewrat neil and tony..and that means the wages we can pay has risen..plus as you say we shifted people out..the club is now able to spend...We've just shifted oot at least 60k a week on the two French Clowns and brought in at least 3.5m euros........Next

Sorry mate but I just don't buy into that. It was evident he was a talented lad last season and we've dropped a level. It isnt, Imo, luck that he's playing well at this levelBut no matter how much developing you do there's a massive unknown when you throw them into league football, especially when they suddenly have to be the main striker for half a season having hardly played any men's football before. No one could accurately have predicted how it would go, therefore it's fortunate for us that he's adjusted so well since our other strikers have been injured, shite or both. Equally he's bound to have periods in his career where, opposite to currently, everything just seems to stay out, it's quite fortunate that he's hit a purple patch right when we needed it. He didn't score like this for the u23 side (and we've seen plenty kids with good youth records not even make it in league football), he wasn't scoring like this in the Championship. They might have worked with him and known he was becoming a good footballer, but this scoring run will be a surprise for everyone at the club.
