He wasn’t alone if I remember correctly Dennis law (I think it was him) went out there at same time, both came back within 12 months

Hughes did the same with Barcelona although lineker stayed and became a bit of a cult hero

Greaves went to AC Milan, Law was at Torino with Joe Baker.

Think what’s pissed people off is the agent not having the common decency to speak to the club and pimping his client out on sky sports. And Maja not standing up to him as it’s disrespectful to the client too. Maja was in his rights to go apeshit st the agent and fire him.
Not sure what benefit pimping out Maja on SSN has had exactly. Everyone in the football world already knew he was coming into the last 6 months of a contract & scored ~15 goals this season. It wouldn’t be news to anyone in the game.

I think he might go end of season after having signed a contract with a release clause. Or stay until the end of the season with a pre contract with another club.

His risk is going up to the championship with us and not being able to ‘do it’ so risking not getting a new club.

On the other hand if he does an ‘Asoro’ that would be worse.

Time will tell I guess.

The fact that Maja hasn't fired his agent or contradicted him probably means Maja is at least "okay" with what his employee has done on his behalf.

Doing that had 2 effects:
Firstly it instantly let the football world know he wasn't going to sign for SAFC and was therefore looking to move.
Secondly it more or less told SAFC that even though we'd met all of his demands, there would be no more negotiation.

The idea was to sow the seeds that there had been a falling out between the club and player - the suggestion that he’d refused to sign a new deal etc. The agent didn’t count on the owner then going public with the actual detail of what happened behind the scenes.

I disagree. I think the plan was to put an offer to the club that he didn’t think we’d match. When we matched it he shit himself because I don’t think any better offers are actually there for Maja regardless of what the agent is leaking to the press.

Otherwise why would Maja have made arrangements to sign the deal and why else would the agent ignore the club?

it's not really a risk since a move isn't an end in itself if we get promoted as our top scorer from this season he

it's not a good representation of the role and power of an agent to describe one as an employee of their client- they aren't just a glorified sales rep
the contract they have will dictate very clearly what exclusive rights the agent has over majas dealings- a contract that the agent wrote and offered to Maja when he was just a bairn. so despite the fact that Maja pays the agent for supplying a service the employee-employer relationship is inverted here depending on what the contract stipulates. firing his agent without a clear breach of contract will almost certainly be unaffordable to Maja. I personally think that the agent may be desperate to get something done quickly in case a bigger fish agent comes sniffing around-

He.... What?

Think 4-5kpw is the average in this league.
Ballpark figures
Average Revenue - £6,000,000 a year
Averages Wages £5,000,000 a year
Average Weekly L1 Player Wage £2,000 a week.

Paying a kid that kind of money in League 1 is a none starter.
We got in this mess with teh play him what he wants job, scraping by and giving huge contracts to failures.

I’m sure if the agent acted unprofessionally, such as making a unilateral decision for his client in public, as he did, then that is grounds enough to get shot.

Think it’s quite possibly the case that the agent put demands to the club which were met when he didn’t think they would be. Put himself in a very awkward position by playing games and it’s backfired when the club agreed. He then threw his toys out of the pram and ran off to sky TV.

It’s pretty safe to say that someone between the club, the agent and Maja isn’t telling the truth.

If he doesn’t want to stay show him the door ASAP simple. I’m tired of the club pandering to these players and their agents.

I want 11 men who want to play in the famous red and white on the pitch no matter what league

Given that he indicated to Ross that he was going to sign the contract, I can only assume that his agent has suggested that he'll be able to negotiate better terms if he holds off for now. It's not as if the noises from Maja have been that he wants to leave the club/play in a higher league/relocate to the south etc.

I’m having a look at his agent appears to be an ex-Man City scout so it may be that he’s known him since he was there.
He's supposed to act in the interest of the player tho and his wishes. Maja wants to stay apparently, therefore the agent ain't doing what he gets paid to do.

He tells Ross he's signing, tells his agent he isn't, that way Maja get no stick
