The only reason I can think of is if they were anticipating he’d leave and so wanted time to plan to replace him.
If there had been no deadline and on the last day of the window he’d gone elsewhere, leaving no time to replace him, then the club would have got pelters for not planning.
Not defending the deadline but that’s the only explanation I can think of

If they’d met all player and agent demands and gave him what he wanted, how long do we wait for him to sign?

At some point their has to be a deadline to allow us to sell & get a replacement in. I’m sure its pretty normal, coming out and saying it probably isn’t and no doubt fans are split on whether that was right or not

Exactly this. Damned if they do, damned if they don't. Plus these contract negotiations started months ago.

Depends on how long the offer, offers had been out for him. Everything has to have a feasible timeline, a best before almost and then a done by date.

Or you end up more in the crap, due to piss poor planning and preparation. Been there before with Ellis Short and we all know how that ended up and still paying for it.

Now managenent are going the correct way to sorting out issues and problem areas and still being crucified. There should be a natural balance somewhere in the middle.

Some work to do before the negativity, turns to a positive.......and we get a genuine feel good. Some still think these owners are chancers, rather than innovative owners.

Let's just remember, they took a gamble in taking on the club, it is in everyone's best interests for it to be a success.

On point 2, maybe they need the help of supporters to build the club back up by increasing revenue rather by taking on debt.
If they put their own money in, it’s still debt, just like we owed Short.
We need to increase revenue and every pound from every supporter will help. As revenue increases, so will the budgets.

I also do not live in Uk but have bought plenty of SAFC merchandise. There is some very good stuff.
