can't work out if it's just a young lad being badly advised or it's Maja hiding behind his agent. if he doesn't want to sign a new deal fair enough but he can easily get shot of his agent if he doesn't believe he's acting in his best interests

I might be missing it here but didn’t the agent report it to Sky that he wasn’t signing and Stewart tweeted to clear it up for the fans. But again you ignore that and bring it back to the ‘deadline’....

Because sky wouldn’t have been rang him today if he hasn’t been for the deadline. It’s been a week or so worth of scrutiny ever since he mentioned it and it’s built up to this point.

I’m not sure why Skyrim’s agent would make it public he has rejected an offer 7x his current wage, mind. I’d have thought that might put some clubs off.

It will still probably drag on all window one way or another. But now probably with him being ‘rested’ to avoid being abused for a month.
It could but at some point management and ownership have to decide to move on. That'll affect recruitment planning and such, but it's what Ross and his team get paid for. The fallout has yet to happen

This was always going to turn out like this, I said awhile ago if he wanted to sign he’d sign, I’m sick of players hiding behind agents. He’s 20 years old and is capable of making his own mind up, he’s suppose to have said to sd and jr that he wants to sign that’s just him playing the situation I’ve told people loads of times what they want to hear while wanting the opposite. Nowt against the lad he’s well within his rights to want to gan elsewhere, let him get on with it the club is bigger than any one player.

Yes that’s good for all concerned ....

It’s good for the future of the club. Club can’t go on saying they are getting tough, piss take party stops etc then allow a 20 year old to fuck us over. Get shot and show him and his agent he’s nowt special. Replace him with Shankland at a quarter the cost and Maja can fuck off and bench warm elsewhere when they realize they have bought a league one player who’s not ready for step up.

Sick to death of the whole saga now. He can fuck off for me. Drop him out of the squad completely. Everyone will have forgotten about him by the summer....let’s see who takes him on with zero further games.
I don't want to agree, but, it's probably the best thing to do. It may well mean we don't go up, but it may well mean we mean business. It's concerning that a kid thinks that playing in front of nearly 50,000 supporters in the third division isn't a big enough deal for him. He should go to the premier league, play reserve team football, get relegated and we'll pass him on the way back to the premier. Karma.

Doesn’t make sense that he pulled Ross up to say he would sign if that’s the case. Could have said nowt.

As I said I'll be gutted. But doesn't mean you can't bring someone in who'll score goals. It's about time others stepped up to the plate anyway.

Plenty said the same thing about Grabban last year. The fact is goal scorers are really difficult to replace, especially those as clinical as Maja, who is pretty much scoring with every chance he gets. Our history suggests we’ll fail to replace him with adequate quality.

I don't understand why Maja went out of his way to tell Ross he was staying. Surely he would have been better off not saying anything if he had no intention of signing?

Still mad. Agents have far, far too much influence in the game.
I think this is one point on which most posters will agree marra. The problem is what to do about it. For me, if clubs got together & decided it should either become common practice or better still regulatory requirement that players (not clubs) pay agents, this may go some way towards alleviating the problem. It's the commingling of terms of the player contract with club & separate player contract with agent that seems to give rise to putting agents in a position whereby they are able to exert undue influence on players. That's my thought on it, for the little it's worth!

I’m usually of the opinion that if a player doesn’t want to play for us then he knows where the door is. I sort of feel a bit sorry for Maja. I wonder if he even knew his agent rang Sky Sports, let’s be honest Asoro didn’t know Spurs had made an offer for him.

If it was him hiding behind his agent I don’t know why he would be motivated to go to Ross and say he wants to sign. Surely he would just say nowt at all?

I agree that we don’t know if Maja is being disingenuous or whether it is all the agents doing.

But if the agent isn’t acting in his best interest Maja may not necessarily recognise this. These are young, impressionable, not necessarily very bright lads and agents gain their trust and have their ear. I’d imagine it’s very difficult to convince the players that their agents aren’t always acting purely in their interests.

I thought that about Asoro after Donald said it but there was an interview with him in the paper last week where he says specifically that he spoke to Spurs.

Agree with the rest. It sounds a bit like everyone is confused bar his agent.

Wyke should lead the line going forward, don’t play Maja, as simple as that. He isn’t pulling in the same direction as the rest of the club. We don’t need that mentality in the team. Playing players who want away gets you absolutely nowhere.

But the question is - does he actually want to be away ?

Why did the agent go to Sky? I think it could be because Maja had reservations about rejecting the deal,so he has gone public with Sky.

If he had informed the club, he might have been concerned that the club could have still had the opportunity to Talk him into signing.

This stinks of the agents interests outweighing the players interests.
