This narrative is so f***ing ridiculous

Like there is nothing between self sustainability and the worst owner in premier league history

You can't be tweeting stuff like that, its so unhelpful, you seem like a sensible lad, how can't you see that?

He just made the situation ten times worse, I think a lot of players and agents won't want to touch the club, and I now can see the player getting dog's abuse despite his last minute back track

The only players and agents who won't want to touch the club are the dishonest ones who don't play with a straight bat,'cos they know they're going to be outed.

We need to get promoted, he is our best chance, no logic in not keeping him, he knew he was off but got us 4 points last week

can't see how he can stay now after the Donald tweets

If he knew he was off why did he see Ross yesterday to say he was signing? Its his agent playing games to get his payout.

There is no logic in keeping him IF we can get good money for him now IF he refuses to sign

Maja could have signed the deal if he wanted. He can offer Maja advice but at the end of the day the agent doesn't ultimately control the use of his writing hand.

If Maja jumps to a higher level right now then that could be the end for him in footballing terms. It's laughable to think he'd have any impact at Premier League level and hopeful at best to think he can do it in the Championship. Look at Asoro, and he was rated more highly than Maja!

Why these players think agents have their best interests at heart is beyond me. All his agent is thinking of is the commission from Maja's next move.

why's it not professional?

Twitter is a form of media in the same way as our website is.

it's only considered "unprofessional" because social media is a relatively new concept and some people just can't accept change.

This! It’s an increasingly important part of corporate life

First off I can’t stand agents and what the leech from football.
However look at it this way. The agent tells the club what they want and the club in principle agree.
The club decide to set a deadline for an answer, which is fine and done so they can make plans in the window if we need to look at getting another player in.
Maja is happy with the contract and tells Ross he’s happy to sign it.
As the deadline is today the agent speaks to his client and Maja tells him about the conversation with Ross.
Agent tells him to hold off signing the contract as there’s plenty of time left in the window and there might be better deals out there to consider.
Agent tells Sky his player hasn’t signed a new contract yet.
Just because we have set a deadline the window is still open. The agent is seeing what deals are out there.
If there’s something better he can put this to Maja, if not he knows he’s got Maja a deal he’s happy with still on the table with us.
I know we would all like this signed and sealed but the agents main concern is doing the best for his client.
Maja could always say leave it and sign with us but I suppose you pay an agent to try to do their best for you and at that age would you not take their advice?

If he thinks his long term career is better with them after playing on Boxing Day and at Blackpool than close the door on your way out.

This is my take on it as well. We couldnt be more attractive as a club for Maja imo, and still he'd rather listen to his agent and try to get as much money as possible right now.

It's a shame but that's football today. We cant compete financially with teams like Cardiff, so they'll take our best players despite our support/winning games/development opportunities.

Look at Asoro for fuck sake he can't get on their bench at Swansea but I bet his agents wanking himself silly. And STILL his mate Josh won't sign.

Deal with things through the club, it's a club matter. Don't get involved in a "they said this, he said that"
Let the club put something out via social media.
That's the right way imo.
if sky hadnt been about to run the story then thats how you do it..thats comms..but crisis comms is about first strike..which is why it has to be quick..

I'd rather hear direct from the owner rather than a faceless twitter account.

Come on GOM, the answer to this question is never 'I'd prefer him to be more like Ridsdale at Leeds' is it? There's an enormous middle ground that the overwhelming majority of good football club owners inhabit. I'd have preferred him to act in that fashion, dignified, giving the player a chance to potentially change his mind and dealing with it in a way that doesn't take anything off the table.

Look at who I was replying too. He's constantly criticising the owners for not throwing cash around like confetti. In this case, the agent is well out of order by talking to Keith Downie before Donald; if he's had that basic courtesy, the last 15 paged of this thread wouldn't have happened.

Anyway, the use of hyperbole is an accepted rhetorical device :)

If I’m his agent and knew Maja wanted to stay, I’d look at who I’m negotiating with, see a jumpy and easily spooked novice, then I’d absolutely reject the deal today in a bid to extract more from the club. Failing that, the lad might want to play in the Premier League and be paid loads more cash, which is fair enough really.

The hilarious thing is, if Stewart Donald hadn’t said anything you’d currently being having an absolutely huge meltdown about how the club should have offered him what he wanted.

Hes been doing that for weeks anyway

Do you see Pep Guardiola tweeting shite about it?

Did you want the club to be more transparent?

Are you happy that you’re aware the club have done all they could based on our current position to keep him?

Do you accept nothing has been revealed until Majas agent has pulled the trigger with Sky?

And lastly, not everyone is going to like the clubs social media content, just because you don’t doesn’t make it wrong.
