I understand the point you're making. It's just Donald's style, which is a complete contrast to what we've had in the past. I don't think it's going to change the situation with Maja whatever he does.

Donald said it would change in the last transfer window. He said he’d stop. He hasn’t. He created difficult for Ross and the recruitment team in the summer with it and he’s decided to do it again

why would Maja stroll into the gaffa's office to say he wants to sign if he doesn't want to sign??

Maja - "hi Mr Agent, just been in to tell the boss that I'm wanting to stay. I'll be in touch to get it all sorted, yeh?"

Mr Agent - "Are you fuckin serious?! I've got Man City lined up for you here and you've gone and told Jack Ross that you want to stay? Are you insane?"

Maja - "ah shit... I'll hold off then, yeh?"

Mr Agent - "Hi Sky Sports? Just letting you know that my client Josh Maja has told me he won't be signing the new deal today".

So your saying Maja doesn't want to sign then. Thank you.

It's only one persons decision at the end of the day - Maja's. If he wanted to sign the contract there is absolutely nothing stopping him. The fact he isn't, shows he doesn't want to.

Give owa man. There’s an official social media operation, press officer and a website. His second in command is a PR man. If collectively they genuinely thought this was the best and most efficient way to spike this story, I.e with a series of emotive tweets rather than a quickly but well put together statement using their PR experience, then it looks like it’s amateur hour

unfortuantely i have to deal with PRs every day of the week...sky got the story out five minutes after sytewart tweeted..it would have taken him longer than five minutes to phone the social media team and tell them what he wanted posted..its crisis comms the time budget is seconds..not five minutes..

We offered what Maja and his agent wanted...and they backed out. What are they left to do??

The club offered 7 times his current salary which by all accounts is what was wanted by the player and agent.
The club offered it and it been shit on by the agent not the player.
As for Donald taking to Twitter, no issues of the club are not at fault. As most said, quickest way to get point across.
Would be interesting too see of cameras are in and filming a second series, this would make interesting viewing

Right - I will keep this simple

From what we understand the 20 year old did want to sign (or sine in your world), his agent (as they mostly all are) is greedy and will make more money if Maja moves.
So the agent contacted Sky to say he won’t sign

Let’s wait and see what happens rather than condemning our best player before we know more facts

I find that very hard to believe. Seems to me like he’s hiding behind his agent and deflecting it. Hope it’s not though.

No he hasn’t. He has even tweeted that the fans should get behind Maja.

Yet again you’ve chosen to take an opportunity to be negative about the chairman.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, you have an agenda against the new owners / the club.

Whether you’re linked to a player / players or had an interest in a consortium that failed in a bid to take over the club, it’s absolutely apparent that you have an agenda here.

Are you taking the piss?

You can't be serious with that post?

The defensive nature from some of the "wums" on here is f***ing embarrassing

the owners have clearly started well, but this is poor, and the tweets are quite frankly embarrassing to a club like Sunderland, wouldn't be surprosed if he deleted them

You are turning into a mag with a messiah complex, not everything they do will be right, and this clearly isn't right

now jog on

you have the agenda.

I don't see a problem with it. You and several other posters just like to have something to whinge about. Am sure if he hadn't tweeted anything and Sky had reported Maja turns down deal the same posters would be asking why the club hadn't commented.

No I wouldn't

He shouldn't be tweeting stuff like that, its as simple as that, you know that really, you just want an argument.

every time Maja goes to sign then I suspect his agent is straight onto him giving it the "are you insane" chat and it puts doubt in his mind. He's f***ing about with a young lad's life.

But he will have been doing that for months. Not just the eve of the deadline which is why the tweet doesn’t really make much sense to me.
