Same down here darlo/ aycliffe , loads of em watchin in the pubs but the inly supporters coaches gannin to matches are ours. Been like this since 92 . They think supporting their team means putting a shirt on and going to the pub.

Drank quite a bit in Consett in the 80's knew lads of both persuasions. Always mixed and drank together always good banter. More mags as Sunderland is twice as far away.

Met german copper in detmold who followed the lads. He followed them because his lass from conssett

I live there and it does seem more mags than us, though there is a canny supporters branch up here.

I've just got back from footy training with my lads in their safc tops. There was a fair mix of black & white and red & white so perhaps some hope for the future :)

It is probably 60/40 them, but you do notice them a lot more because they feel the need to wear replica kit every day of the week when out and about the place, unlike us Consett Safc lads

There's a mini bus leaves Consett every game know a few lads who get it Smed ,like you say consett mags and stanley mags sit and watch there matches in the pubs ,

Mini bus?! Theres a coach or 2 that leaves from the demi if i remember correctly

Your from Leadgate mate , take my lad up there Consett football club loads black and whites

plenty of 1992'ers who don't go to games, proper brainwashed by the Keegan era, fortunately there is a strong and loyal Sunderland following up here as well, (all the intelligent lads who weren't led astray).

two busloads from the Demi to home games, and often a bus to away games as well.

My son plays up at Consett and in his team there is an even split of mags and lads fans....again the lads that follow sunderland go, the lads that follow the mags don't

Ridiculous thread - there are Mags in Sunderland so of course there are in other NE villages and towns! Perhaps in the so called old school areas where traditionally a majority have either been black/white or red/white the minority have been relatively silent but they are still there!

Met an old fella from Durham City who said he started following that lot because the bus to get to Newcastle stopped outside his house so it was easier. His brother took him to Roker when he was younger but he started going to St James's with his mates when he got a bit older for ease. This was last year, the bloke was in his 70s.

I dont think ive actually seen a Wonga top in Consett, its all NTL or Northern Rock or snidey replica kit. They are that bad.

What would it be like watching the derby at the Demi?
Loads of ugly grots drinking carling screaming & shouting like their lives depend on it & proclaiming they are on a 30,000 waiting list for tickets at the wongadome. Wearing some propper classy NUFC replica tops covered in brown sauce.

So I'm better off watching it in Sunderland then?
