i think that bar 1898 in Consett is owned by a massive lads fan, (i know he has had plenty of other games on in the past) might be on the basement room, I'm in their on Friday so I'll ask.....if I can remember
We've been in touch and he said it was all red n white last time. There's about 20 of us looking for somewhere to watch and at the minute that's our chosen venue.

Consett is a lot closer to Newcastle than Sunderland so I thought it would be at least 60/40 to them.
Just thinking the same I'm from Stanley and I remember taking a couple of lads from Consett to a Sunderland game late 80's. What a pain in the arse, took us f***ing ages.

I dont think ive actually seen a Wonga top in Consett, its all NTL or Northern Rock or snidey replica kit. They are that bad.

That'll be cause none of the charity shops have had them in yet.

It usually takes us about an hour to get there.....& we usually get back about 6:30. It's the getting out of Dundas Street that takes up the bulk of that.

Surely it's not rocket science why there are more Mags in Consett
It's 14 miles to St James' Park & 23 to Stadium of Light.

As has been alluded to in the last few posts, Consett & Stanley mags are nowt but armchair 1992ers. Watch all their home games in the local scratty boozers on foreign telly whilst wearing Virgin Money & Northern Rock replica tops covered in gravy.

Although SAFC are outnumbered in these areas, a lot more safc fans go to our games than 1992ers to theirs.

We take a full bus or even two from the Demi, the mags cobble a dozen on a minibus from the fountain iirc

Consett mags are certainly more likely to parade around town in their colours. You could be forgiven for thinking the place is 99% black and white. In reality more like 60:40.

Was talking with Erin Mcleod yeserday, she's the goalie for the Canadian women's team in next year's world Cup which is being held over here. Anyhow I said the team's coach John Herdman will no doubt be up early on Sunday to watch the derby. She said Oh yes he is a big Newcastle supporter.

What the hell is up with that. The bloke was born in Consett. What has happened to Country Durham.
Consent is almost at the Northumberland border and miles away from Durham itself tbh.

Who's getting the first round in then?
Can I come ? Full off mags in the hilltop

I enjoyed growing up there mate but I've lived here for 20years this xmas. It seems a lot more run down nowadays.
I it's not good ,East Stanley is the posh part now were I'm from ,Craghead is a dive @davoak lives there ,and @Daffy lives in the Center of Stanley, but it's really South Stanley he just try's to be posh.were abouts did you live ?

I was born and brought up in Consett. Always been more mags than SAFC.
Having said that there was always a load went to the matches.

I was up visiting family at the end of last season and went to the last couple of games with the branch.
As has been said usually a couple of coaches to the home games.

Derby's used to be fun mind.
"Thanks officer but I don't want to go back to the bloody station, I live in Consett"
" can't do son,it's cut off for all the footy season"
