I generally have no idea. Maybe RVP, Robben and Wesley have kept him out. Just know, when I have seen him for Ajax, he has showed good qualities.

Yes thats a decent point actually. I've never really seen the lad play but he's played quite a bit champs league football and only the mags seem prepared to take a punt whereas cabaye was relatively unknown and was an excellent piece of scouting/business by them.
I'd be asking the same questions if we'd signed him so I'm not just being sceptical because he joining Newcastle.
 
How long into the season before Graham Carr gets the credit for unearthing another "unknown" gem? :lol:

Those that have seen a lot of him seem to rate him quite highly.

Fair enough makes you wonder why his Ajax form hasn't alerted bigger clubs hes available for 7.5m euro if hes such a talent

Aye that does seem to be good value like. God knows why other clubs have not seemed to want to pay the price. I am just staying my opinion from watching the lad over the years.

In all seriousness though the few games I've seen him he looked a decent player.
Older brother of the player they had last season. Scored a few against Man City in the CL.

Had a handful of caps if that.As I said RELATIVELY unknown. Hadn't played champs league and was playing for Lille who for all they won league it was before the big bucks kicked in for PSG and Monaco. I'd say the average punter will have a better grasp of De Jong than would have Cabaye.
