If it does go through it would be a very good signing. Last 12 months of his contract so would be a cheaper fee. This is probably why Newcastle are interested in him and pulled the plug on Grenier. However, signing SDJ would improve Newcastle.

Why hasn't his Ajax form won him more than 6 caps in 4 years? Has he retired from international football or something ?

Spot on.Wouldn't surprise me if next season pardew gets them to a cup final and he's a hero as well. Would only take a bad run after and they'd sharp turn on him though! Fickle bunch.

Over the last 5+ years he has played Ajax am not sure however, as he has also played in the CL and scored a few against good opposition. Enough to know he looks very decent.
