Absolutely. The creative team at the club made that decision. Hard to please everyone though.
Credit to the club for supporting local artists etc rather than just bashing out something with AI!

Stay away in future you.Nice tifo. We had a nice day up in Sunderland. We got to see Sheepfolds which was very nice too.
Unfortunately...
Dave Stewart very nearly made it on there - before it was decided to focus purely on sport/football.Where's Dave Stewart and Olga ?
Aye….a giant bin and as it unfurls up the stand, she pops out the top!Should have had Leanne's Removals on IMO.
I made the point about Dan Neil as well. Captained us up.Imagine not putting Patterson on there, the keeper who got us back to the premier league, but putting the likes of Jill Scott on ffs.
The banner was called "Made in Sunderland", not "played for Sunderland". Its not difficult...I love Jill, she's a proper ambassador for the city.......however........she's got shite all to do with the Stadium of Light.
Giovanni Reyna should have been on it as well. The banner was called "Made in Sunderland", not "played for Sunderland". Its not difficult...
Put any further suggestions to those who create them.Giovanni Reyna should have been on it as well.
Reckon Leeds would have Haaland on theirs?
By conceding 5???This...looked like it got caught on a blokes wheelchair at the start who was right in the middle, the lads did a cracking job of holding it together afterwards tbf but it was the steward who saved the day initially![]()
To me it was a transparent attempt to address the Jill Scott controversy by emphasising ‘Made in Sunderland’, as if that in anyway justifies her inclusion on the Club legends thing. I think the Club want to be associated with her celebrity, otherwise why her and not Houghton? The banner was called "Made in Sunderland", not "played for Sunderland". Its not difficult...
Good point on Houghton in particular. To me it was a transparent attempt to address the Jill Scott controversy by emphasising ‘Made in Sunderland’, as if that in anyway justifies her inclusion on the Club legends thing. I think the Club want to be associated with her celebrity, otherwise why her and not Houghton?
Not misogynistic to point any of this stuff out. I think in these debates some people are more keen to appear progressive than to use common sense and judge cases based on their merits.
Ah knarThe banner was called "Made in Sunderland", not "played for Sunderland". Its not difficult...
It was a banner someone else designed. I looked at it for a minute or two. I had no idea people would be bothered enough by it for it to have it's own thread on here. I suppose people will moan about owtTo me it was a transparent attempt to address the Jill Scott controversy by emphasising ‘Made in Sunderland’, as if that in anyway justifies her inclusion on the Club legends thing.
