Maddison to Spurs

Depends how they’re going to set up under Ange.

If he’s playing in a 3 behind Kane, Son and Kulusevski then he’ll be superb for them.

Providing Kane stays as well like.
Having watched spurs a few times last season the thing that stood out for me was they really are missing a dominant box to box midfielder leader, and If Kane goes they'll struggle even more to push themselves into the top six IMO

Proper Spurs signing, skillful and entertaining, gets some important goals. Not sure if he brings the bite and drive they will need

Surely the skunks offered him more than Spurs, he's going there because he has morals, or just fancies living in London more than Newcastle.

If the mags are being ambitious then they really want to be doing better than Maddison.

The clamor for him, and bitterness about not signing him from some of their fans is weird, and seems to stem from the fact they missed out on him last year, and still want to prove they "can have him if they want to".

They've moved on, he'd have been a good signing last year but he's not Champions league quality.

What a pile of ill informed drivel, Newcastle United couldn't just have him if they wanted him firstly Maddison didn't want to go to Newcastle and secondly they couldn't afford his wages as Eddie Howe has openly admitted.

Having the richest owners in the world at Newcastle United doesn't mean that they can instantly spend unlimited amounts of money on players transfer fees and wages new financial rules start from this season from both the Premier League and UEFA which are related to a clubs annual revenues and Newcastle are already close to their limits

Newcastle United will be lucky to have generated much over £200m last season where as Spurs will have generated around £550m in annual revenues for last season, as for your Champions League quality rubbish Harry Winks played in a Champions League final not so long ago do you think he is Champions league quality, I would suggest that you check Maddisons stats over recent seasons, the reason his fee was so low was down to circumstances regarding contract length and sell on clause hence Leicester City will get Winks for a lower price.

No doubt it won't take too long for Newcastle United to grow their finances by finding loopholes in FFP rules but until then they have to work to a budget.

Off to Bayern mate from todays papers (opening bid made) or a freebie to them next year. Either way he is not going for a new contract

Could see them getting back to it under Ange tbf. Their big issue has been dreadful coaching over the past year or so. Might take a bit of time if/when he chooses to move away from the back three, but they've got lots of good players.

Maddison is certainly very talented. For me, its a question of whether he can move beyond being a bit of a Le Tissier. He's made the move now (the one that Le Tissier shied away from). If he can adapt to a club where he's more 'one of many' rather than the talisman of the team, then he'll do well.

Dreadful coaching over the last 4 years and the players were being drained of any enthusiasm by being made to play hideously defensive terrorist football, It has mostly been an absolute chore watching Spurs play over the last 4 years or so win lose or draw 🥱

I have been a guest on here since 2010, if someone talks crap I will gladly point it out to them with plain simple facts, so very sorry if I have upset you though by telling the truth.

The mags, as do all of us know Maddison and he's a decent player. They've been played and gazumped by a non champions league so the toys are out of the pram.

I, like many others don't know anything about this Italian they are on about signing so he'll be seen as a Carlos kick a ball in comparison.
Tbf I dont think Maddison fits the “hard working” model they expect from their players.
He definately fits the gap left by the loss of Ericksen though for Spurs

We haven’t put a bid in for him so can hardly get gazumped

Don't disagree with a lot that you said, apart from the fact you're selling Winks at a lower price. He's being sold to the championship for a reason, championship clubs don't tend to spend £10 million on players (especially since 2020). Decent player but that is a lot of money.

Very ethical decision by Maddison to join Spurs, have a lot of time for it.
Aye. He seems to have grown up a lot since his days of tweeting about Bales facial features. Pro womens and gay rights, anti capital punishment and paedophilia. Hopefully there’ll be more thinking footballers in the future and less nasty, greedy, thick bastards who put money first.

He is a very decent player Keith. I am disappointed, although not surprised, we missed out. We should have paid what they wanted in January / last summer.
Let's be honest, any player without an allegiance to Newcastle, will choose London. It has been ever thus really. The Italian could be anything. At least you have a reasonable knowledge as to what you get from Maddison.

He had a spell not so long ago where he was the most creative player in the league, bar debruyne.

40m is a bargain in todays prices. Exactly what Tottenham need.
