Maddison to Spurs

Good player but he absolutely shat himself missing that penalty at home to Everton which probably would have kept Leicester up and sent Everton down when all was said and done.

He seemed to completely disappear after that for the final 6 games.

Probs fair

Well not winning the league no, but I don’t buy into this anti spurs narrative because they ain’t won a league cup or someit

When I was growing up spurs were mid table and often bottom half, so it’s always perplexed me that spurs in the top 4 is not seen as a huge achievement
I’ve just had a quick look. Since 1992 spurs have won 2 trophies.

Arsenal have won 14

I could compare to a few others if I could be arsed.

The point is, they’re not a very top club. And I don’t think he’s a very top player

Good club and good player of course

Good player when he can be bothered. Lacks bottle as soon as the going gets tough so will fit in well with Spurs. Been very injury prone over the last couple of years too. Hip causes a lot of problems.

Glad it's sorted earlyìsh in the window.

Amazed at the volume of posts saying that he doesn't want to get to the top or a big fish in a small pond.

He's 26, won the FA Cup and Community Shield and has scored 43 goals in 160 games (just over 1 in 4) as an attacking midfielder, his record is fantastic. 10 goals and 9 assists last season in the league in a team that went down.

He will only be better in a better side and I think he's perfect for Spurs. If he finds a link up between himself and Kane they could be frightening for goals and assists.

Big blow to newcastle that, he is a good player.

Whats amusing is doing a search on maddison on the evening chronicle webiste, they've mentioned him in 80 nufc sport articles just since last month . Now he is going to spurs the top story is why newcastle wont lose sleep about missing out on maddison :lol:

Certainly seems the sports writers at the chronicle have already lost plenty of sleep writing about him.

He also set up the winner for Bournemouth in our 1-0 defeat at home.

Lots of teams (wrongly) put top 4 in front of cups these day.

Spurs have had a lot of top 4 finishes and made the Champions league final too. Yes, they have won nothing for years.

They are a way bigger club and draw than the mugs.

They even have 60,000 screaming fans and probably a waiting list...

Think arsenal finished above them like once in 7 years or someit, might be wrong, 2 sides to every story

40 million

Decent deal

Funny though as mags on Twitter claiming he’s only going there due to money

Ignoring the fact every player they’ve signed recently has joined the mags for money.
they are professionals..same as in every profession they go where the best deal is..whether thats newcastle or spurs of SAFC..
nmewcastle fans can be very childish about players "wanting" to play for them as if they are more special than others..
Could see them getting back to it under Ange tbf. Their big issue has been dreadful coaching over the past year or so. Might take a bit of time if/when he chooses to move away from the back three, but they've got lots of good players.

Maddison is certainly very talented. For me, its a question of whether he can move beyond being a bit of a Le Tissier. He's made the move now (the one that Le Tissier shied away from). If he can adapt to a club where he's more 'one of many' rather than the talisman of the team, then he'll do well.
excellent insightful and articulate post.

I suspect Leicester fans won't be heartbroken to see him off?
Weird one. When he's good he's really good. He's scored some great goals for us. But once things start to go against you he's not a player you need. Very frustrating player and slows the play down by wanting to have too many touches. Never content with beating a man once, he'll turn back into trouble.

Free kicks are brilliant, however he is one of the worst corner takers we have ever had so I hope they're not banking on him for that. Was a relief when his hip troubles meant he had to stop taking them for us for a couple of months.

Suspect he'll score a few goals for Spurs and he'll never be off Instagram showing off (see his £8k see through back pack) but can't see him being a player to take them up a notch.

Will also be interesting to see how they react to his tweets from 10 years ago saying how much he hates Spurs and Gareth Bale. Can't imagine it bothering them too much as he was much younger but you can already see the Arsenal fan TV types getting ready to pounce on it.

Should be enough income plus the parachute payments to catapult you back up and out of the league.

There'll be a few more players out yet. Barnes for one, would love to keep him bit can't see it. He should go for more than Maddison. Younger and longer time left on his contract. Castagne being touted around to Juventus, no great loss there.

Would be gutted to lose Iheanacho but only a year left on his contract so very possible.

Faes will hopefully be off too.
