The style will be as close to what the original was, looked that way when we priced it. I don’t think the colour looks right.
I know the colour of the windows ties in but I can’t help thinking it’s not the right colour for them. Would like to know what colour they were originally. This, it looks quality.
We went to the Boldon store last year for my Husband’s suit for our daughter’s wedding. Our son in law and his best man also went there for their suits.
It was easier than going into town, and parking was free nearby.
It looks fantastic.

Easier because you can park right outside on the road.Easier in what way exactly? Mackies is simple to get to and from really

Windows didn’t go all the way to the floor as well. There’s an old photo that shows a stone patterning between ground floor windows and first floor windows that’s missing
I don’t think the restoration as ever going to be 100% as it was, cost came into the equation. There’s an old photo that shows a stone patterning between ground floor windows and first floor windows that’s missing

Have to start somewhere and people living down there is exactly what is neededWho is funding it Tony? Looks good but feels a bit like giving a house in a council estate a 1m makeover as the surroundings are a tip.
Not strictly true in that Mackie’s Corner is directly opposite & a fantastic job has been done on that.Who is funding it Tony? Looks good but feels a bit like giving a house in a council estate a 1m makeover as the surroundings are a tip.

It’s a costly punt when the CC is dying on its arse. No worries if it’s private investment but I’d question if it’s good vfm for council tax payers when services are being cut.

Improvement is a gradual thing.
Supported with over £700,000 funding from Sunderland City Council, Historic England and the Department for Levelling Up, Housing & Communities (DLUHC) through the Future High Street Fund and Heritage Action Zone (HAZ) programme, the project has breathed new life into the Hindu Gothic style building while respecting its historic character and charm.
Id imagine only small part has been funded by the council and will have likely improved the assets value.
