LVCC Yorkshire v Durham

Its an absolutely fantastic performance by Durham. Remember this is a Durham side tipped to be relegated by plenty of people and it isn't a vintage Durham side without the likes of Diva, Benks, Chanderpaul or any overseas pro of any kind. You would imagine that without the experience of the past Durham would need to rely on one or two proven class acts but were without their best player going into this game and against an extremely capable and confident side. This was a superb team effort, the batsmen did their bit but the bowlers taking 20 wickets did a truly brilliant job particularly when you take into account their lack of experience and Wood being unable to bowl.

All things considered one of Durham's greatest victories in modern history.
I second all that. And it's up there with Harrogate '73.

Great win and performance whatever happens can say we have a very good season in all formats, even if we have fallen short in the shorter formats

to think smith aside this is an all academy team, is fantastic

No matter what happens in the last four games, we've proven a lot of the media wrong.

The young lads have been superb and should take huge credit for the position we're in now.

Go and win it lads!!!!

A Yorkshire take on Day 4 -
Having seen the Durham bowling (without Onions) I do not consider them Championship quality [DOUBLEPOST=1377973393][/DOUBLEPOST]Bowled you fuckers out twice on your flattest pitch and best batting line up in the championship

Superb result. Lets hope we dont blow it against Sussex having put all the hard work in.

When is GO back. if ever?

We certainly missed him yesterday[DOUBLEPOST=1377974585][/DOUBLEPOST]I'd not consider Yorkshire's bowling championship quality without sidearse ;)

At least all the forms of wacky cricket are over and there's only one goal now

The yorkies can 'consider' all they like, but they might want to 'consider' that we are now 5.5 points behind with a game in hand. In pure cricketing terms that's really 3 points behind with a game in hand and but for Colly's sporting declaration we would now be 10.5 points ahead with a game in hand and had we won that game we would be 26.5 points ahead with a game in hand.

They should thank Joe Root for that innings as without it, this title would already be on its way back to the Riverside.[DOUBLEPOST=1377975325][/DOUBLEPOST]Just had a thought. If all games from here on in are washed out, we would win the title.

Lets all do a rain dance.

The comment about our bowling attack is interesting. Just had a look at the economy rates of each bowler in the match and this is the list from best to worst. The number in the front indicates first and second innings;

2 PD Collingwood Durham 0.33
1 BA Stokes Durham 2.28
2 SA Patterson Yorkshire 2.37
2 WR Smith Durham 2.42
1 SA Patterson Yorkshire 2.73
2 C Rushworth Durham 3.00
1 SG Borthwick Durham 3.00
1 MA Wood Durham 3.17
2 J Harrison Durham 3.27
2 BA Stokes Durham 3.27
1 J Harrison Durham 3.47
2 SG Borthwick Durham 3.49
1 RJ Sidebottom Yorkshire 3.54
1 C Rushworth Durham 3.71
2 RJ Sidebottom Yorkshire 3.87
1 JA Brooks Yorkshire 4.11
1 KS Williamson Yorkshire 4.46
1 AU Rashid Yorkshire 4.80
2 KS Williamson Yorkshire 4.87
1 LE Plunkett Yorkshire 5.23
2 JA Brooks Yorkshire 6.50
2 AU Rashid Yorkshire 6.71

11 of the top 14 are our bowlers and 9 of the bottom 10 including all the bottom 8 are Yorkshire bowlers. We took 20 wickets and they took 13 but yes I agree, our bowling attack is clearly not as good as theirs and is not 'championship quality'.

Collingwood said last season that he wanted bowlers who could keep it tight. The tactic that has worked well for Durham this year and last is winning low scoring games.
