I'm hoping for Notts racking up 500 and beating Warks and Lancs being beat by the weather so we're still top for next week!

It'd take a quick 7 wickets tomorrow. We really do need them to drop bonus points somewhere like.

Looks a high chance of rain at both tomorrow

Prob not constant though

Good recovery from Lancs. I’m sure rain will play a part but 4 batting points, and potentially 3-4 bowling points and a draw should put us slightly ahead of you with a game to go.

Who is your final game against? Ours is Somerset away which will be tough. What about Warks?

Away to Hants. Far from easy...

On paper if points go in roughly level Durham should be favs

Although how often does county cricket work out as you expect?

Yeah Hants seem to have bolstered their batting recently. Carberry has had a couple of huge scores.

It's just a shame that the last few games are always so weather dependent. Shite scheduling as usual when the best part of the summer is spent playing Twenty20.

In fairness I normally find the weather in September better than August

This has just been a very wet summer (El Nino or summat?)

Lancs have done better out of it than normal too ;-)

I actually think you have an advantage in the last games, as both us and Warks play relegation battlers. Ciders likely nowt to play for

Fair point – we have actually lost less days this year than usual, helped by playing most games at Liverpool which although wet is marginally dryer than Old Trafford. Plus it seems to be a result pitch too. After so many near misses over the years I’m waiting for the bad weather to strike with a vengeance though!

Good point about Somerset too – at the moment I think they have a mathematical chance but anything less than close to maximum points in this game and they’ll be out of it.

Don't forget Tresco missing too

I'm talking myself into backing you

Both games underway on time

Yeah that could be a bonus for us. Last time we were in contention in the final game we played Surrey and Ramprakash inevitably scored a big hundred to put us out of reach. That’s when we made nearly 400 in the 4th innings and lost out on the title but about 30 runs. Might see us win one in my lifetime but I won’t be putting any money on it!

A bonus is something of an understatement

Do you think Aigburth will revert to type when Hants bat? Or will they manage a score too?

Not sure. It’s fair to say that bit’s our bowlers who have kept us in the title race (even with their batting!) so I’d say we have a good chance of taking a decent lead. We’ve picked 2 spinners for this one though so only have Chapple, Hogg and Tom Smith for a bit of seam. Hopefully it will be enough. I’m not sure there will be enough play to get a result but as long as we can pick up another batting point and full bowling points we’ll be doing ok.

2 spinners for Lpool sounds odd, but they know best
