Stuart Rayner writes:

"Mark Stoneman edges consecutive Craig Overton deliveries through the slips for four.

He is now 33 not out. He has only been past 20 twice this season, and both times he got centuries."

Jamie Overton replaces Trego.

Stoneman dropped for a second time. Petersen the culprit at slip off Dockrell. If ever a need for the batsman to punish missed chances, it's now.

Gan on Rocky lad. Get three figures!

Dockrell causing all kinds of problems. 51-1. Or -28-1.

Good effort from these two. We have a lead!! The real work starts now though. 14 overs left tonight (I think), be canny if these two can just consolidate tonight and come back tomorrow.

Thomas back into the attack.

Great fightback. Further proof that proper cricket is the best sport in the world.

About to get KO'd at Lunch, possibly just ahead on points at Close. Much work to do and by the looks of it probably need atleast 300 lead to have a fighting chance. Pitch seems to have flattened right out but still a long way from a healthy lead.

Think if Borthwick has to bat, he will, albeit down the order.

worrying times, seems whenever our injury list is clearing up another one ends up on it - finger injury isn't it? is it the same finger as last time?

It isn't ideal, think it is the same wrong according to the journos.

Stokes is not to far away, and England may want him playing red ball cricket with us instead of ODIs

Does anyone know if this Mcleod could play the 4 day stuff? Not exactly blessed with reserves in batsmen.

Guess Borthwick will be struggling for the 1st test

doubtful he would be picked tbh, his bowling is what he is in contention for and he is hardly setting the world alight.

just going on his averages, 23 in 15 knocks, not sure when his most recent 4 day game was, may well be quite a while back... doesn't seem promising but then again you never know, he won't have had many opportunities to play longer format and if he has developed quite a bit since then, may well be worth a shot - may be our only option, obviously atm muchall is ahead of him in pecking order...

Borthwick unlikely to bat according to Kevin Howells on the BBC.

50 lead up, now 56 for (I'm inclined to say) 2, as Borthwick won't bat again.

Although if we really get desperate he may come out...... I hope (??!).

Think the objective today will just be to bat all day, beautiful sunshine and a placid pitch apparently may mean bowling Somerset out quickly and cheaply will be difficult.

Either way, be best to address that issue later this afternoon when calmer waters are reached. (300 lead with 6 wickets left at Tea, perhaps?! I can dream :)).

Trego bounces one erratically down the leg-side for 4 byes. 150-1 is up. We've scored 29-0 in 11 overs today. Good start, nice gentle accumulation.

Creping towards 100 lead. If we can bat without losing too many wickets we wont be far away from 3 hundred lead by tea time ish. Maybe bat after tea and give ourself about 45mins or so at them tonight if we can push towards 350lead
