After having them 239-9 at one point around about 4.30pm to being 44-3 at Close in reply to 270 is a massive change of fortunes. Our bowlers did fantastically well to bowl them out for 270 after they chose to bat but then our top order failed yet again! Its becoming all to regular for Durham that numbers 4,5,6 and 7 are required to pull the top 3 out of the shit!

I think Smith has played his last game for us as far as this season goes. He's too negative and he doesn't score runs enough for my liking. I think Stoneman will open with Diva next game and perhaps Colly will bat at 3, with Stokes, Benk, Blackwell, Borthwick and Mustard to follow.

Back to today - we need one of Colly, Benk, Blackie or Mustard to score big. A ton from someone or a couple of 50's are essential. If someone offered me 300 now I'd snap their hand off but the goal must be to get any kind of lead. Which from a position of 17-3 would be huge. Mind we could quite easily get skittled for 150 aswell if we bat as poorly this morning as we did last night! Forecast for a bit of rain today too, this could just be the day that makes or breaks our title hopes.

Sorry Scotch, I want to win the Championship and seeing how good of a position we were in two weeks ago this is a bit of a let-down. Granted the Notts home game was lost to weather but the way we surrendered against Hampshire was a f***ing embarrassment and this here too, has been, our top order has been poor most of the season in honesty.

The way we have batted so far this season I cant see us doing that, we cant hold onto the early wickets, sure to be 20/2, 50/4. Hope i'm proved wrong.

The most unreal thing is that the season before Smith became captain he scored over 1,000 Championship runs, and contributed in all forms of the game with the bat.
