Stokes clean bowled by Finn for 23 from a shooter..... 411-4.

2.1 overs left and Wood comes in as a nightwatchman. Not sure I'm too pleased with that.

Mind it's nice to hear the pitch is misbehaving with us having 400+ in the bank :p
How has Finn looked Bonny lad? Tried to put it out there earlier but got a silly response so may as well ask the oracle.;)

Just woke up as been on nights this week, made my day, absolutely delighted with that.

Not too well mate. All the Middlesex quicks bowled far too wide, far too short, far too often. The spinners got a bit of control, but by the time they came on we were flying. Hopefully our bowlers have seen where they went wrong and can bowl much better lines and lengths. The pitch is nowhere near as flat as 411-4 suggests. It was reminiscent of the Yorkshire match IMO, of how poorly the seamers bowled early on. It all made for a wonderful day of cricket in the sunshine though, when the clouds pissed off ;)

Let's hope that the weather holds so we can get a result. Now down to our bowlers to get something out of the pitch ....

Me too, looking at the forecast we should get a couple of sessions in (atleast) tomorrow before the forecast showers arrive late in the afternoon. Tuesday looks grim but I think Wednesday is better. We'll see.

Tomorrow I think the plan should be for Scotty to bat properly in his quest for 200, while the others go for their shots. Wood, Colly, Mustard, Muchall, Hastings - all are capable of scoring quick runs. I'd like to think we could be on or around 550 by Lunch, which wouldn't be a bad time to declare. That would mean they'd need 400 just to avoid the follow on and with rain forecast, I don't see any harm in us trying to force the pace a bit in order to get as much time as possible to take 20 wickets.

have we actually picked any? seen the scorecard and couldnt believe it, muchall at 7, mustard at 8?? typical that we pack our side with batsmen then rattle up 400 and we're barely into the middle order :rolleyes::lol:

Hastings has a first class average of 26 with the ball and is definitely a bowling all rounder.

Plus rushy,wood,stokes and borthwick

Thanks mate .So not ready for test recall just yet then?
Sounds like been a good day of cricket.

He's done well for them this season before today. So I can't speak of his performances elsewhere, but today he was too wayward. That said, it wasn't the quickest of pitches either. He did cause problems on occasion, but they were too few and far between.

Whey aye, like bhoy says - four seamers in Rushworth, Wood, Stokes and Hastings and then Borthwick's spin. Add to that Jennings and Collingwood to bowl some holding overs to give the main quicks a rest. Plenty options marra.

Just been checking the forecast nd not good - "local downpours" predicted for Tuesday and Wednesday .... says it all!

I'll do a sundance man, we'll be alright :). Think positive.
Hope your sun dancing is better than mine then, but I'll give it a try! Like what you're saying about tactics for tomorrow and agree with all the batting in the team to go for their shots and Scotty to just carryon where he left off. 550 or lunch for a declaration and see what they've got in their armoury. Ha'way ....

We need to make enough runs early tomorrow that means we don't have to bat again.

The side looks so strong with Stokes and Scotty in, look how deep we bat there it is ridiculous, if only Onions was fit.

aye two real bowlers, two all rounders [albeit both very good bowling ones] and then scotty who has barely bowled recently due to repeated finger injuries.

even before how ridiculously well we batted i thought it looked unnecessarily deep with batsmen, i'd have felt better with one to miss out in place of breese or pringle. would have been very hard on someone though to miss out

Been down. Great day for Durham. Could not have gone any better really.

Disappointing reporting from the BBC again -

Very misleading. Makes it seem like we only scored so many cause of the dropped catches. That just isn't true. Yeah, Stoneman was dropped on 7 but that aside Rocky and Borthwick had reached their centuries by the time the rest of the drops came.

We were already 250-1 or so before Paul Sterling came on and the "three simple catches" that went down off him were far from simple. One, maybe two of those were half chances at best.

Middlesex won't be pleased about the drops, but a bigger problem for them was their awful bowling for 3/4 of the day.

I know what you mean but I don't think Breese in particularly has bowled that well, there would be a case if Onions was fit, but I think it was the right thought, when you are struggling a bit bowling get a big score and then hopefully scoreboard pressure will help.

im not there to actually see it but his numbers in the recent t20s have been very good, i just feel we would massively benefit from a solid spin option and pringle would benefit from more time out there. i know what youre saying and maybe you are right, it is certainly with hindsight you can say we could have afforded to put him in at the expense of a batsman but even before that batting down to 8 is unnecessarily cautious IMO
