Very interested to see how Borthwick does with a long spell at 3, real bonus if he can consistently score runs, allows us to play an extra spinner down the order

going very very well, but some bad weather on the way. Was going to head over, but going to give it a miss now instead.

It's raining here now, I'm about 4 or 5 miles away. There was a lot of rain last night too.

Wasn't this match abandoned without a ball bowled last year?

Hoying it away now like. 193-5. Capable of a collapse and not getting much of a lead here.

Stokes wants to pull his f***ing finger out aswell

Well, fairly pleasant evening in prospect. The wind has died down and there is no prospect of rain at the moment, while the worst of the dark clouds seem to be dispersing. Temperatures in the early teens and tomorrow I'd expect similar with possible spots of rain (but that's only to cover my arse).

Bit of a disappointment in the end from us. We got to within one run of them with just 5 wickets down - both Batsmen well set - and then proceeded to have a bit of a collapse.

I thought it was rather odd that Thorp batted before Wood and then also odd that Rushworth went in before Buckley. Apparently Buckley is in the 'lower middle-order' for the seconds. Whilst I'm not intending to criticise tailenders for their batting (because thus far this season we've been indebted to them on more than a couple of occasions), I do feel they lacked a bit of application today.

When Mustard and Benk were going well the commentators were saying we could quite realistically go into tomorrow with only 5/6 down - so to lose wickets quite quickly and cheaply late on was a shame. Batting fourth on this track could prove very difficult, so the cost of our lower order struggles remains to be seen. If only one of the tail could have frustrated them for half an hour or so, we could have perhaps been 279-7 at Close.

C'est la vie I guess though. I'd still rather be in our position. Be great if we can nip 2/3 out before they get parity.

I think the weather might still have a part to play in this one too so the onus might be on them to set the pace. From here, we should get a minimum of a draw. Which would not be bad at all. Relegation fodder indeed

11-1

Roy b Thorp 4.

Headline on the back page of today's Sunday Sun - "Why Durham's future is bright - Harmy".

Probably cause he won't be part of it!!
