LVCC D1 - Durham v Middlesex

Good end to the day, seems a pretty average score for the Riverside this season.

I'd say they were the happier of the two sides after our innings. If you bowl a side out on Day 1 after inserting them you're always happy. Then Bunny and Thorpedo got stuck in and we're just edging it now for me.

If we can get a quick one or two in the morning we'll be we'll amongst them. Especially if Denly goes. What we don't want is the night-watchman hanging around for anymore than 20 minutes at the most.

Weather for tomorrow isn't the best, scattered showers and that I think but it could play into our hands if there's a bit moisture about. I'd rather be bowling than batting in a rain interrupted day to be honest.

Got across there for an ours play either side of lunch (freebee ticket Brandon). Borthwick batted well as did Jennings, Smith was stodgy but determined, Stokes never settled and Colly looked like a walking wicket for the 10 minutes he was out in the middle.
Typical Riverside wicket on a typical cold grey day. I wish Harris had have decided to join us, looked a quality bowler, nobody looked comfortable against him. Roland Jones looked very average, runs in from the boundary and bowls meduim pace.

I'm hoping this is the case and that our bowlers get plenty put of it tomorrow. Their bloke on commentary seemed adamant it was/is relatively flat mind. I'm hoping he was just doing some immense straw clutching.

Looking at their attack, then looking at ours - we should've prepared a Bunsen!

The game's shaping up nicely so far, we've got to be happy nipping the two openers out last night. I can't tell if 259 is a good score or not yet as there didn't seem to be a lot in the pitch with only limited movement through the air for the bowlers. At least 4-5 of the wickets we lost were down to poor- lazy shots, Colly,s being the worst.

At the moment I'd say we're on top but two decent partnerships would change that, but any sort of a 1st innings lead puts us in the driving seat.

Here's hoping the weather holds and we get a full game in.

What is the weather like today, we likely to start on time?

Sunny at the moment but chilly with a brisk wind. Rain showers forecast for this afternoon. Could get lucky and have a full days play, could get unlucky and only have 20 overs play - one of them days potentially.

Intermittent showers already. Could be a frustrating day and we'll have to brace ourselves for a potentially controversial declaration decision sometime tomorrow evening. :-)

Worse forecast tomorrow innit, though Cls seems to be on the edge of the heavy rain, rather than the middle

There was a scenario (think it was the Yorkshire match) where play didn't start till after tea. Now if you're a non-member you can come in at tea-time and pay £5 to watch the final session.

Non-members turning up at around 11 would pay the full £15, but those coming in at tea would see the same amount of play for a tenner less. I wonder if the club would give a £10 refund or £10 off your next match.

Can't see them doing that though.

Not a pleasant day to be watching cricket at the Riverside, off again for a shower at the moment. Luckily it's blowing over quick so shouldn't be off for long. In between the showers the sun has been out but theres still a cold wind blowing.

Early wicket from Onions is just what we needed although the nightwatchman Smith is hanging about. The breaks are giving our bowlers a rest and breaking the batsmen concentration so should suit us.

Going back on as I type.
