LVCC D1 - Durham v Derbyshire

I dont think we will see any ovelly aggressive batting in the morning imho - it's too dashing imho, not our style, but I'd definately send in Mustard then Breese next.

I can't see any way back for Derbyshire in this game now, they looked like a beaten side in the field this afternoon. If we bat till lunch we'll have a lead of at least 450 which will be more than enough.

If our bowlers keep attacking the stumps the way they did in Derbyshires first innings, it could all be over tomorrow.

What a difference a day makes.......

We really should give it a bash tomorrow IMO, from the word go. Even if we don't go crazy we could still quite easily get a lead of over 500 and leave ourselves in excess of 140 overs in which to take ten wickets.

DERBYSHIRE desrve to be bottom of the league.
After tea they bowled about 14 negative overs well wide of off stump just to try to temp a rash daft stroke and to keep scoring to a minimum with over two days and a session to go
Nee wonder they only have 40 points if there ambition is just to keep the opposition scoring rate down.
I know he's only a young lad and he made a very large contribution first innings but Keaton Jennings is so slow he makes Will Smith's scoring rate look an express train.
Take a leaf out of Scotty's book young man if there's a bad ball there whack it.
Well done Scotty today young man terrific century at nearly a run a ball.

Still doesn't take away the fact 250 was well under par. As we're now proving.

How can 250 be under par if they only got 113?

You jumped the gun again instead of taking the game as a whole.

A first innings lead of 140 and now effectively 348-2 after 2 days and you're still complaining because the tail didn't score any runs?

It was a pretty shocking collapse, it's right to question it especially given how comfortably we scored today. Derbyshire are just crap, their innings is irrelevant ;-)

Never judge a pitch until both teams have batted on it. 250 was clearly a comfortably good enough score on that pitch against that opposition. In fact, it's a pretty good score at CLS against anyone with our bowling attack.

Cheers Mike.

222-4 to 253 all out. Someone please still try to tell me I should have been delighted with what we scored....... The collapse is where my frustration came from. Blinkered fuckers

Now time to ram home the advantage and win. Easy as. Ideally in 3 days so the team and fans can focus on the ashes.

After what happened v Yorkshire and given the weather, I am favouring getting as many as possible here. Currently a very healthy 121 for 1 and a lead at an even healthier 261. Loads of time left in the game so we should be looking for north of 450 lead as a minimum. At current scoring rate we can get there before lunch tomorrow leaving us 5 full sessions to skittle them.
I agree entirely with this, so long as lunch is taken somewhere after 3pm today.

The what? Is there something else happening I haven't heard about? You'd think there'd be something on the telly about it if there were.

Lets be aggressive and put them in for the morning session tomorrow twotfom ;-)
Great ide.... Waiiiit a minute!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tbf our first innings collapse was ridiculous & meant we missed out on bonus batting pts that could be crucial later in the season.

Not really bothered how slow Jennings scores tbh, have we all had our heads turned that much by that T20 bollox that building an innings, occupying the crease, refusing to give your wicket away etc is frowned upon? Boycott (nearly typed Boycoutt there) or Atherton were no different. There are plenty around him to play swashbuckling cricket if needed.

Great point. That was one of my frustrations with the score/collapse. It's a possibility over the next two days that we could win and Sussex could draw, what would occur would be we'd have won more games (5) than anyone else, yet we'd be third. Behind two teams who have won fewer games than us. Highlighting our lack of batting bonus points.

How many batting points have the opposition grabbed at Cls ?

By the way if we win and Sussex draw (unlikely) we're top

If we both win we're 2nd with a game in hand. Not sure what table you're inspecting

I prefer result pitches for our chances , 4 out of 5 times we win on thm. When bad weather comes we have an advantage

Because of the comparative weakness of our batting, it's usually on flat pitches that we might struggle

The BBC one. I thought it had updated the bonus points

Anyway fuck it. Bat til Lunch, lead by 500, skittle them by 3pm tomorrow and we can all have a nice weekend watching the Ashes :-D
