The return of proper cricket!!

Slightly worried about a potential banana skin here mind. We won't be at full strength, perhaps missing Bunny for the whole game too. Derbyshire are yet to win a game and are favourites for the bottom spot but we'll need to guard against complacency. Looking at their side there are plenty batsmen very capable of scoring runs. Not so sure about their bowling like, certainly not as strong as ours. Then again, not even Australia's is when we're at full strength

Don't think our squad has been named yet.

Theirs is Chesney Hughes, Wayne Madsen, Shiv Chanderpaul, Dan Redfern, Wes Durston, Richard Johnson, Tom Poynton, David Wainwright, Jonathan Clare, Tony Palladino, Tim Groenewald, Mark Footitt.

Durham Squad vs Derbyshire – Emirates Durham ICG

Monday July 8th-Thursday July 11th

Mark Stoneman (c)

Keaton Jennings

Scott Borthwick

Will Smith

Ben Stokes

Michael Richardson

Phil Mustard

Gordon Muchall

Gareth Breese

Mark Wood

Callum Thorp

Chris Rushworth

Jamie Harrison

Durham squad
Stoneman(cpt) Jennings Borthwick Smith Stokes Richardson Mustard Muchall Breese Wood Thorp Rushworth Harrison.
Colly out with thumb injury. Breese will have to play so probably Muchall and Harrison to miss out unless they play Harrison to give them a left arm swing option.

Disappointing that Colly's out even with his crap form with the bat. Hopefully Breese will get the nod as hes in good form.

I thought they'd have included Onions even if hes to miss the first two days.

Surely we need another quicky with no Onions.

Apparently he'd have to be available for Durham by the beginning of the 3rd day to be able to take his place-presumably he won't be released by England to be able to get back to Durham to meet that deadline. Why we're playing a CC game in the middle of the T20 is a question only ECB can answer but they're probably incapable of doing so.

i would open with richardson and rocky( jennings is far too slow and negative)Id play Much for Colly.
and the players missing out would be harrison and jennings cos I would play Breezy for bowling option and his batting at the moment is fine

2 keepers in the 12. wud have thought Footitt to be on on drinks duty myself.

Palladino is Derbyshire's best bowler in the C'ship.

The batting is oh so brittle. Hughes- erratic form, Shiv- just hasn't done it at all in the 4 day game this yr, Redfern- been promising talent for 5 seasons now but still hasn't hit any highs.

Muchall and Harrison to miss out for me.
Thorp might. He's a great lad and has been a good servant to Durham but I think this season will prove to be a bridge too far for him, although he is something like 38 now. He cant go on forever. He seems to have struggled this season.

I think they will miss Collingwoods captaincy because irrespective of what people think of him personally he has clearly been a massive influence in the dressing room since his retirement from international cricket.

This, on paper, looks an easier game for Durham but I've seen these games bite us on the arse and I think it might prove to be a bit more difficult that people think.

Wont see much of this one due to work commitments.

i see jennings missing out as we just dont seem to fancy him... and between thorp & harrison the bowler to miss out

Had some forturne playing Derbyshire this week with no Benks, Colly or Onions or could have been a disaster playing someone like Sussex or Notts

Borthwick harshly adjudged lbw according to Marty. He thought there was bat involved. Smith making very slow progress as usual. 77-2.
