Luke O'Nien

Yes. Hes head and shoulders a better player than O'Nien will ever be. Hence why he was a starter in a world cup winning team.

Beyond laughable to think a bloke who has played less than 10 games this season as a backup is better.
🤣🤣

So fuck he played in a world cup winning team, he's f***ing honking.

Christ, it's taken 3 days for the select few to start doubting the kid again after yet another, fantastic performance at the weekend. It gets so f***ing boring.

Luke is far better than Dan Burn yet Burn has England call ups so to me it means jack shit.

Xhaka has had just as many Reds as Luke has. I don't see people wetting the bed with him. Easy to forget our current Captain was Arsensal's loose cannon

Because people don't think hes as good as a world cup winner?

Have a word man. Theres levels of difference between saying hes good enough for the squad, which is clearly all Le Bris thinks he is, to saying hes better than world cup winners etc.

Ridiculous

Mags away he played 1 scuffed pass, something every player does every game, after that he was fantastic.
Villa was a learning game as Watkins was next to unpayable, city he was given a hospital ball and port vale he done nothing wrong.

I'm just happy that he keeps proving you wrong.

Haway man stop making excuses, he didn't need to tackle like that. Port Vale he was shocking, along with every other fker in a Sunderland shirt that day. He's dropped a few bollocks in a few games and should have given a penalty away v Leeds if we're being honest

He also shown character after some mistakes, mags for example. And he's been very good against Everton twice. I think that's a fairly balanced and fair view of his season

You think he'd start ahead of Van Der Ven and Romero?
Not saying that O'Nien would be ahead of them in the pecking order but think they're the 2 most wildly over-rated players I can recall in the Premier League for a long time. They've been a pair of liabilities for a couple of years now and seemingly have awful attitudes as well, baffled as to how Van Der Ven in particular gets linked with so many big moves.

When was Xhaka sent off? Genuinely can't recall that, my memory is shocking though

I agree with that, they're both hugely over rated. VDV especially. His pace gets him out of a lot of trouble.
They're still better than O'Nien though
Leaving this thread now, boring select few totally embarrassing themselves again 🤣
Grow up man, Jesus wept 😂😂

I'm talking about career wise. Xhaka has had 11 red cards in his career to Luke who has had 4 or 5.

Yet when Luke plays the bed wetters are like 'nnnoooo hes ganna be sent off man''

You're never going to change them. They decided that he wasn't good enough before a ball had been kicked, and they'll never back down and admit that they were wrong.
Change what? I'm saying exactly what he is. A player who you wouldnt play regularly.. our manager agrees.
It's like a cult regarding O'Nien with some. Hes allowed criticism

Hard to believe that this nonsense has gone on for 114 pages. The only opinion that really matters is RLB's and he trusts 09 as a dependable (and somewhat versatile) squad player not as a starter. The other players, including Xhaka, show him respect. The small minority who think he isn't good enough for us are irrelevant.

Pointless arguing with people about 09

Some people hate him and wont ever admit he is good until he has the game he did after his mistake away at the mags

Cos then he was forgiven and people loved him again

We all know he isnt the best but has rarely let us down and has come up through the leagues as well

Other players who go non league to the Prem get accolades but not 09 not by some Sunderland fans

Not sure what else the lad has to do to be honest

unfortunately people seem to love when he puts a foot wrong
