Luke O'Nien

I just don't understand his selection at all. We had a really difficult away game at an in form Champions League team with a top striker in peak form.

We left one of our best players of the season in Ballard, a Dutch international with 20 caps in Geertruida, and a player who has done really well this season in Hume (which would have allowed Mukiele to play CB), on the bench.

So that we could leave Luke O'Nien in the team.

It was a crazy decision.

We all know Luke has limitations at this level. No more so than himself but he gives 100% and that’s what I thought our fans appreciated the most.

Give him a break because barring injuries he’s probably on the bench for the rest of the season.

We’re still only 2 points behind Chelsea in 6th.
He had limitations last season as well.

Hes not a centre half and never will be.

Its also worth noting he has won two man of the match awards since Jan. The only Sunderland player to win two this year.
I'm neutral on luke so not coming with this just to hate, but Alderete deserved the one away to leeds far more. They're given by the commentary team and tbh I think they gave it to Luke because of his story with the club over Omar

Was definitely a penalty in that game too btw, still not sure how he got away with it

Ridiculous he was picked again today. Even if Ballard isn't fully fit you play Hume and Mukiele at CB. We were all over the place at the back today.

The irony is that if Luke scores the winner against Chelsea on the last day of the season which puts us into Europe those on here will still find a way to make out it was nothing to do with him.
It wouldn’t, he lost us the game today.

Hes not a centre half, it’s obvious to anyone except RLB.

Nail on the head this. He absolutely shouldn’t be playing. Even the biggest L09 fan surely must be able to see we had better options available on the bench.
