Luke O'Nien

With our SCR situation, £20m is not “next to nothing” He’s our third best Right Back. He’s not had a run of games because everyone in his positions are better than him.

Nah. Not really sure why O’Nien is relevant here because Geertruida is not a Centre Back. Hume is a better right back. Mukiele is better than all of them as a RB or CB. Liverpool wanted him purely as they had no fit right backs in January. Quite revealing we were prepared to let him go as well. I like him and he’s decent, but fuck spending £20m on a squad player.
From his Wikipedia: Mainly a right-back, he can also play as a centre-back and defensive midfielder.

“Can also play” Id rather get a CM who plays CM as their best position.
I couldn't care if it's not his best position: I'd just rather have the better player in that position. If he's better than the incumbent 'natural' CM, I'd take him all day long.

That's all moot, of course, because he won't want to come here permanently to be a bench warmer.

I get the feeling Geertruida won't be here next season...

Le Bris seems to drop him out the team at the first opportunity.

Onien should stick around though. Especially if we go on a couple of cup runs or sneak into Europe.
Geertruida remains a really nice squad option. Good versatility and clearly good around the squad. Personally, though, I'd rather we kept the near £20m and £100k per week in our pocket and instead went and got a talented young centre half who can step in over the next two seasons and eventually take over from Ballard and Alderete.

18-20m is too rich for us to spend on a squad option. It would be our in our top 5 highest fee paid for a player. The change in rules i think we will have to be much smarter with it being related to income as to what you can spend. To me that sort of fee has to go towards someone coming into the 1st team, and we really need to strengthen further up the field

Don’t think we’ll be spending £20m on a player who’s mainly just a squad option - albeit a good versatile one.

£10m maybe, but not £20m.

I don’t rate Hume, you really are desperate.
I’m not desperate am I when there is about 16 people telling you that your wrong

Don’t think it’s the fee it’s more so the 99k a week wages he obv not coming

He slipped v the visitors goal.
He slipped for the PV backpass.
He slipped to get sent off v Man City.
He slipped against the Leeds player.

Championship standard studs maybe?
Dreadful decision by le bris to pick someone so severely lacking.
No faith in him at all. Le bris out ? Your judgement seems to be far superior.

No, he just makes too many errors that PL players don’t.

You sound like a scouser, always somebody else’s fault.
If we want to go through PL teams' fourth choice centreback- very few have a player as reliable as O'Nien to call on

(I know you are being sarcastic I just want to praise O'Nien some) Sometimes I think it's important to remember that Le Bris has a PhD in sports psycology. There is a reason we score so many late goals, and don't concede very many- and there is a reason Le Bris trusts O'Nien.

Despite being a 'winger', it's the first time I've noticed you on this board.

Imo you're either a Maggot, WUM or know nowt about football or a combination of all three. Consider yourself ignored.

There was no need for onien to go flying in like that. Alderete and Roefs had everything undercontrol. Was ridiculous flying in like that.
Here we gan again absolute desperation to have a go at the lad he didn’t go flying in he was pulling out and it was literally slow mo. There is many things in a match you could say people shouldn’t have done. It was checked by var and not given from multiple angles and slow mo’s what more do people f***ing need to not have a go at the lad he’s been f***ing excellent

Not having a go im allowed an opinion and he went flying in sky pundits said he was fortunate not to catch the ladas he went flying in out of control. Was no need for him to do it. Think you need to chill out a bit about him your acting a bit stalky about onien😂😂😂😂

The spurs player was already on his way down before O'nien got near him. It was Aldarete the spurs player was closest too.

Both centre halves had a great game

Coz it wasn’t a foul people can’t wait to have a dig at him is a million things could have happened throughout the game with other players but didn’t !

anyone who thinks O9 shouldn't stay is an idiot
He won't be on massive money, is superb back up - but most importantly is mentally aware of that place in the squad.
And he is MR SUNDERLAND.

Should be giving him another year really on his contract if anything.
Home Grown too.
