Luke O'Nien

If Dan Burn can get a cap no reason LON can’t similar skill ability one good in air but gets nutmegged the other doesn’t

Still going on about someone pulling someone because it’s onien :):):) people do it every single game
Botman is a very good premier League player and did it today.
Reinildo is a really good premier league player and has done it.

I remember this fella now - this was the fella that didn't understand football and moaned about Luke when hadji scored for Coventry as Luke let hadji get in an offside position but he then luckily got a deflection. He thought defenders should always be deep to play strikers onside! Crackajack
So giving the visitors a goal headstart and headlocking a Leeds player makes him Beckenbaur does it?
Maybe not Beckenbauer , but he could be as error prone as some other good players who made some rash decision - Roy Keane smashing haaland and stamping on Southgate or Eric cantana kung fu kicking a fan. It happens in every game

He slipped v the mags. He didn't switch off like livremento, who is a good premier League player.
Unfortunately you've nailed your colours to the mast and you're doubling down.

He slipped v the visitors goal.
He slipped for the PV backpass.
He slipped to get sent off v Man City.
He slipped against the Leeds player.

Championship standard studs maybe?

Just as a matter of interest, what do you think he’d have to achieve to be considered a PL player?
As a centre half?
1) Hasn’t got the physique at set pieces, that’s why he’s always wrestling opponents instead of just winning the ball like Ballard or Alderete.
2) Hasn’t got the pace.
3) Drifts towards the ball, leaving the person he’s marking.

But he can

1) Pass a ball with both feet
2) Carry the ball forward.

A higher end Championship player, which tbh is a lot better than the rest of us.

Is there actually something wrong with you?

Are you missing all the positive things the lad does?

Today he made two last ditch, potentially goal saving blocks/challenges.

He scuffed the pass against the mags, his mistake.
Got pushed for the port vale one,
Was given a shit pass to try and win against city and was man of the match against Leeds

If this is the kind of garbage you come up with when you think of this lad then you are a very sad individual.

No, he just makes too many errors that PL players don’t.

You sound like a scouser, always somebody else’s fault.

Thanks for the reply. I agree to a degree. He definitely has limitations. By those criteria, is it fair to say he could never be a PL centre half in your estimation?

I was thinking more in terms of, despite those criticisms, he achieves a certain number of appearances. Or is part of a defence that secures a certain number of clean sheets? I appreciate that he’s a cog in a machine in those situations, but that’s the case with most players in a team game who aren’t blessed with elite level flair.

I sometimes think that there are a certain group of players who are technically suspect, but accrue a significant number of PL appearances. Like Whitehead, Kilbane, Collins, etc. I’d consider them lower bracket PL players who have forged a career in the league, without being seriously considered to be top half quality.
