Luke O'Nien

Irrelevant for me and not much interest in comparing ifs and buts. It doesn't change the fact that O'Neins is a clear red card, let the squad down during afcon and shows why hes had a handful of minutes. Too slow of mind for this level.
Spot on this mind^^

Like the bloke on commentary said, tackle made by someone lacking match fitness.
Hes been doing this for years man and a prime example why a big portion of fans don't think he can step up.

He spoke on Wednesday night about wanting to make 50 PL appearances. I'd be surprised if he made 50 minutes.

He did stupid tackles at championship level too. He's just not a good footballer, way too slow for this level. He's effective as a sh*thouse and leader, two things we don't need now.

He's been a great servant to the club but we've progressed. Its time he moves on as we know today's tackle is a typical o nien tackle. You cant do it with var

Harsh red that like, especially given the inconsistency of VAR. Bet he's gutted about it. He'll learn from it I'm sure
I recall in the Champo him clattering into the back of someone’s leg in the centre circle when there was no danger. Got sent off then too.

I like Luke but he has let the team down for the next three matches.

And you and others couldn't wait for the mistake.

No mention of thr inconsistency, just pile in
Its nowhere near the grief people you are replying to on this very thread has given Dan Neil this season either. This whole thing is getting turned into defending o'nein because some people can't handle some criticism of the bloke and get all defensive or handle a differing opinion.

Its a shocker of a tackle and hasn't engaged his brain. Its over with and qe move on from it and he will probably get more minutes from the bench. Pointless getting all upset over people complaining about it.

Got into a massive fight in the pub with the lads I drink with. They are onien cultists like a lot of safc fans are, and cannot handle any criticism of him. It is really, really, bizarre. It shows how populists like trump get elected, by people who can't think critically and get fooled by personality and don't look beyond the superficial.

Onien was directly responsible for us conceding 8-9 goals last season, and a similar number the season before. He's nowhere near good enough for the premier league, but he's getting minutes as we are short during afcon.

I downed my pint and stormed out and walked to the next pub and sat by myself, can't be bothered with people.

It was over as a contest ,but RR have summed up the sending off correctly

Sadly I think he’s done. The challenge was like a metaphor. No malice but the sign of a guy who hasn’t got it at this level.
Haway man, that take was bad but it wasn’t because he hasn’t got it at this level. He just miss timed it massively after just coming on the pitch & being sold a short one from Le Fee. He could have made that tackle in any league against any player.

One of the new lads make that tackle and there's 20 threads defending him.

Any of last years team do it and there is hell on.

The fact we lost to probably one of the best teams is europe will be lost because 09 got sent off

How is he getting minutes due to afcon? It hasn't even started yet 🤷‍♂️
