Never has a player “got it” more than Luke. Maybe Quinny. So chuffed.
Sad to say…I feared the same.Lovely to see him come on but I was also genuinely nervous he'd give a pen away...
I keep saying Luke is a very smart Lad. His former shithousery was as intentional as Richie Pitt's foul on Alan Clarke in the opening minutes o the 1973 Cup Final.Sad to say…I feared the same.
Was hoping he would temper his enthusiasm and his wish to do anything to do his bit.
He did….![]()

You’ve got me so wrong there.I keep saying Luke is a very smart Lad. His former shithousery was as intentional as Richie Pitt's foul on Alan Clarke in the opening minutes o the 1973 Cup Final.
In the lower Leagues his antic's distracted the toughies among the opposition and prevented our kids from being bullied. He regularly took one for the team and took the piss out of opponents rather than resorting to violence. He got away with a heck of lot because ref's thought he was just being daft but you can bet it put quite a few off our opponents of their stride. He will not be called upon to do any of that in the Premier League.
Give the guy some credit. He's a thinker not at all the sort of bloke who gets the red mist.
I've always liked him from the day he signed. You must be logged on to see media items

Bally got it. But I agree with this.Never has a player “got it” more than Luke. Maybe Quinny. So chuffed.
You don't choose to be a Sunderland supporter, Sunderland chooses you.Kevin Ball?
Gary Bennet?
Lyndon Gooch?
Theres one every 5 years or so. Our clubs magic, it eats into people
My favourite Sunderland moment, I've literally got the t-shirtSubbed off at half time in our first League 1 game as well after looking less than brillliant. Subsequently, he's become a dog saving, piggy backing, Norwich Scandi snogging legend.
What a brilliant interview from a true professional and an all-round wonderful human being. You must be logged on to see media items

So has Roef's and he's spoken about how good he's been at welcoming him to the club. From that interview Luke seems to see his role in the squad changing. He's not deluded and knows he isn't going to be keeping Sadiki or Mukiele on the bench but he can have that leadership role still and contribute when he gets his chances on the pitch.I want to know more about this Simon Moore phenomenon….L09 actually credits him with being the most important figure in us getting promoted, is that right? What on earth is he doing behind the scenes?
Yes. It was great that O’Nien even acknowledged the calibre of person coming in, in addition to the obvious calibre of player. Great to seeSo has Roef's and he's spoken about how good he's been at welcoming him to the club. From that interview Luke seems to see his role in the squad changing. I love seeing that we clearly have some really good people in the squad these days. It's such a tonic to the likes of Danny Graham etc giving 'banter' stories about how crazy they were and all the fun times they had while being absolutely shite.
