Cracking interview with his mentor. Loved it when he said Luke wants to move into the cottage on the training ground. He could prove to be something a bit special this lad, over time. The excitement is building . . . .

Another full back was Nyron he had played his previous seven years in Leagues One and Two until he came to us as a back up player. When he got his one chance becuase of others being injured he took it and went on to spend as many years as a Premier League player. He deserved a lot of credit for that.
I firmly believe that there are a lot of good players in the lower leagues that have just been overlooked and then written off becuase they play in those leagues. Give the right lad a chance and he can go all thke way. I was glad to see that our new manager has said as much and the smartest of his new recruits will be aware of it too.

That's a cracking read.
I'd honestly not realised how much I've fallen out of love with football over the last few years until the takeover. Sure it's great to watch brilliant footballers play for other teams and admire them, and I can do that. But it's not 'real' for me because for me football is an emotional thing too, and my team appears to have not given a shit about SAFC for years - I think I've been so numb to my team and players that I've had an emotional disconnect with the club for years now.
Except for the odd consumate professionals like Defoe who also loved being here, it's been a long time since I looked at our team with any kind of belief they represented us / me or with any connection or excitement.
Now I read stuff like this and my partner starts laughing and says things like "look at you, you're sitting there not realising you're grinning like an idiot, lost in a screen, you look like a little kid".
It's awful it's taken the last four or five seasons to start a process of healing, but I've been sitting here reading that grinning like an idiot again.

Seems like he has a Defoe-like commitment to looking after himself. Hopefully he has a bit of talent as well because you can't fail with his attitude.
