I've read the hobbit and lord of the rings, and I tried to read the Silmarillion but that is some hard going. You have to be really into it to stick it out so I am glad there is a tv show covering it all.

I think I got about 30 pages into the Silmarillion. That could only have been fun for Tolkien when he wrote it.

The people writing the show most likely haven’t read it either.

No-one will know the difference. The only people who tend to read it in full are the kind of gormless nerds everyone avoids and no-one actually listens to anyway.

Yeah I never bothered with the Silmarillion as id heard what it was like.

Wish I could go back and read LOTR again fresh. I was in awe of it when I read it. Must have been about 16 ish maybe? The films were just a dream come true. I was obsessed with them. Ive just rewatched the extended editions again since the 4Ks came out. Class.

I did the hobbit as a young lad but LOTR at 21 so just about managed it
