Any evidence of the word assist being in the football vocabulary 25 years ago? Strongly doubt it was like.

Duel has never been a football term, challenge has, one on one has, but duel definitely hasn’t.
So you have a problem with evolving language, increased stats and a more scientific look at the game? xG must drive you mad then?

I genuinely wonder if he will be given a go next season or just sold off. He's definitely no worse than Dejaku who I can't help but think we will be stuck with.
Don't think he will, we'll be looking at next level players for next year now so we can push for promotion. Sadly I think he's not up to it

Absolutely! Can’t stand it all tbh. So bloody Americanised. Why take a term from American sport when we have our own term for the same meaning? What grinds me most is the fact more and more people are judging players by these irrelevant stats instead of watching them play and forming an educated opinion.

Because the stats are a more educated opinion and add extra info that just watching a player would not provide.

Respectfully disagree mate, nothing will ever replace watching a player to form an opinion on him. Stats aren’t an educated opinion, they can be massively misleading.
Don’t like Dean Saunders whatsoever but he made a fantastic point on Talksport about the nonsense which surrounds football these days, people stealing a living.
