only cash they put in was for stadium..

they posted a large profit today as well so owners can have some of the cash back..

owners talk about sustainable and self sufficiency as well..

thats how a club should be run..transfers funded by revenues owners funding long term capex alone..

Fair play to them, but you could argue they have been a huge worldwide brand for decades so it's quite easy for them to get great sponsors and to be self sufficient?

The way Atletico, Dortmund and Leicester have built up their clubs in the last decade is more impressive for me.

they were £200m in debt when these guys took over..the bank had foreclosed on the previous owners...the brand recognition was there of course..but they moved the brand way forward during their time as owners..

It helped Leicester by going bust, it got rid of their debts owing a lot of local people money.

Thats a lot easier to do when you’re in prem With loads of assets and one of the biggest clubs in the world.

Whichever way you look at it it is a fantastic achievement considering money spent by other clubs.

100% agree with this. And I’m sure most of our fans would, even though you keep trying to push us as ‘entitled fans’, when in fact we’re far from that.
And the owners have definitely turned us in the right direction.
Our fans were only looking for perhaps a bit extra spent in the summer/January, on someone who could bring added goals to the team to make sure of promotion. We can’t chance another season in this league.

if only we had competent owners...

If only Murray had sought investment whilst we were on the up, the point of the North Stand Extension being the perfect time to seek outside investment, right on the cusp of the boom in Premier League money.

Instead he ended up too poor for us to compete and doing it on a shoestring got us into way more debt than it should have.

Hindsight, marvellous!!!

Alright when they’re a global brand, generate ridiculous money from sponsors, the champions league and player transfers. Load of shite when you’re in league 1 scrapping about the free agents.

That's excellent but Liverpool were in the premier League having built revenues that are heavily linked to being in the premier League, being sustainable in league one might be fine for Burton Albion but it isn't for Sunderland who are one of the biggest clubs in England being about the 7th most successful English club that's about where we should be now, within the top ten of the premier League using speculation and investment, once we are there then it would be entirely reasonable to suggest being self sufficient and look to grow revenues that allows the club to wash its own face.

Could we realistically have been self sustaining in the prem with better management of the club (especially under Ellis) ?
