I bet you enjoy Corrie too. Tbf there's nowt wrong with that. It's just a bit soapy that's all.

Now I sound like a snob, but in reality it's all just down to personal taste...

Also I didn't hate this latest series, I did still find some of it entertaining, but also it was laughable, so no harm done. Stephen Graham was shite though and I'm usually a fan.
Nope, don't watch ANY soaps at all, ever !.

Looking forward to that, Shane Meadows normally delivers.
Saw Stephen Graham in one of his most bizarre roles last night. It was in Yardie, directed by Idris Elba, playing a white Rasta type speaking in Jamaican patois. Think Gary Oldman in True Romance occasionally slipping into a scouse accent. Not sure if that was a deliberate acting / directorial choice or whether he couldn't keep the Jamaican stuff up for the whole film.
Hasn’t he (SG) got a Jamaican granddad? Sure I heard that on a recent interview.

Couldn’t get away from the fact that final episode thought it was a masterful unravelling of intricate plot points rather than pointing out things that had been obvious since episode 3 at least.

The most impressive thing about LOD at its best is that no-one is ever an archetype, everyone has their dark corners and uncertain elements that leave them vulnerable or plausible. But that lass running the interrogation was pushing the poisonous ambition speedometer for something like Game of Thrones, let alone this. The fact she was still trying to get Ted after Gill was caught man. Glad her weird elf sidekick got dunked on.

Of course Gill was dodgy as fuck. This was established in series 3 and emphasised by her continuing to act dodgy as fuck throughout this one. How the fuck did that Chucky the Living Doll lass get a knife through security? And the fact that she was literally willing to kill Gill at the cost of her own life? Fuck off.

Lisa was a weird red herring. Did she just cry after John died and Maneet got sentenced to death because it was traumatic or something? Is that what counts as character building this series? Up there with “Kate is late home sometimes and maybe a bad mum. Steve can’t get an erection and is sad. John loves his wife and kids and hates BENT COPPRZ”.

Ted got his balls back at least. Or rather he was nonsensically castrated throughout this series to act like a confused dad so that stupid people would think he was H. Homer giving the dogs shifty eyes in that episode of the Simpsons would have thought it too on the nose. The NI stuff was decent mind, enjoyed that.

At least with that obsession with Hastings done I can’t see how the final season can be any worse.

The real sad thing is that in chasing the whole H business it’s completely lost it’s identity. The H stuff worked because it *wasnt* the plot. It was an intriguing and interwoven backstory to rich, complex and detailed individual cases with their own unique aspects and plots.

This new Shane Meadows thing he's in on C4 in a week or 2, Virtues, is meant to be really good.
I'll be watching. Meadows is good usually.

Don't forget Arnott's ex randomly returning, then being in the final recap thing again to hammer home that she may be relevant.

It'll be her imo. Arnott will be raging like he's all out of buckfast.

He’s mixed race is Graham, Grandad was Jamaican too.

Mind there was (still is maybe?) a number of white Jamaicans. Second or third generation British fanily but born in Jamaica. Gadge who founded Island records was White Jamaican.

Aye his dad is mixed race, saw them both on soccer am years ago.
Graham is as well. He said he was so upset about playing a racist in This Is England he became a bit of an alcoholic and couldn’t work for a while

Surely Hastings is H due to him having the money at the end? Where's the confusion here?
He kept half to give to John’s widow. Granted it’s corrupt per se but it’s for the benefit of others, it’s basically an indication of Ted being a stand up guy and not a criminal kingpin, not that that was ever in doubt

She was right, her boss seemed dodgy

 you are so far off there.

So did he know John was the son of the woman he befriended in Ireland when he decided to keep half the money? As in was he going to keep the money himself but then thought he'd give it to the widow instead? I can't remember the timeline.

And don't forget his dodgy laptop with the message screen on it that the OCG were using...

I think he was keeping it aye but after finding out about John’s circumstances he was the Good Samaritan

Bribe? It's either a plant (which he did nothing with for some time) or his payment, he's H. That cash was traced right back to the OCG.
Why the hell would he be able to pull all the strings within the police with all the deft and subtlety that requires but have to receive 100k in notes in a brown envelope in a hotel foyer?

He kept the 50k for himself because he had been duped out of it previously. He’s never been whiter than white or anything or even particularly clever which is why he was easily framed. But there’s worlds away from holding onto cash that’s not yours but that came from crooks and using it for a good deed, and setting up and running a web of institutionalised crime within the anti corruption ring of the police.

He is dirty as hell, mark my words

I don't agree with all of that but the last bit in bold is spot on, really was an undercurrent rather than sensationalist who done it type of thing

Wasn't the best season for sure, although was still OK up until John Corbett died, but thats TV, highs and lows

If he'd kept it and used it to pay off his debt then they would have seen it as a bribe and been able to blackmail him. As he did nothing with the money the hairs planted on it were used to frame him.

Always people twisting and looking for holes in the plot, rather than just enjoying it!

The fact there is a thread about it and it’s 24 pages long! suggests it must be canny programme don’t you think?
There’s threads about SAFC that are 24 pages long mate and we’re not very good ;););)
