The problem is the scenes not behind them needs to get a decent manager and better recruitment sorted or the fans wont come back.
Sunderland are no longer a big club we are league 1 get used to it.
which is exactly what they are doing (having just hired a head of recruitment)
The fans will always come back once they start progressing, like most on here who are 'staying away for the foreseeable'

Manager i wont argue with you mind, we could do much better now

We shall see but yes Blackpool worry me abit!
Come on you tangerines
The commentary was even better. I thought it was Lincoln TV. That Irish bloke had clearly done his homework on them and spoke endlessly about their players. They must have spent 20 mins, prior to the game and during, just talking about that loan keeper. Meanwhile, we signed Hume from Wigan in December and the main bit of homework they'd done on us is that we are a big physical team who have giants everywhere at set pieces - despite most of our players being 5ft8.
The talk on Saturday will be all about Sunderland fans abusing the manager believe me sky will have a field day very toxic atmosphere

Well its only half time but obviously im a very happy Imp tonight ! 4/5yrs or so ago we were non league and i believe you were premiership/championship! Tonight u hit the xbar and we the post.!
Game on i would suggest saturday ! And the person who said its lincoln ffs and whoever called us a pub team early on in the season RESPECT PLEASE!

You surely can appreciate that it’s completely humiliating for us as a club to be on the same pitch as Lincoln City in a league fixture? Let alone losing said fixture.

I watched your game tonight . I thought you deserved a draw and played as well as they did. Toughest thing is Lincoln were only the 14th best home team over the season but Number 1 away from home.
They were up for it. They didn’t stop closing us down and chasing everything.
We looked lazy and sloppy

Progressing will take a very long time unfortunately total rebuild 2 more seasons in league 1 might do it.

The trouble is when you stop going to matches you find other (more enjoyable, cheaper and less stressful) things to do.

Look I'm usually the happiest of happy clappers but just take a step back.
The first captain of Sunderland I saw was a bloke called Stan Anderson. Captained Sunderland, the Scum and Boro and an England International then the next iirc was Charlie Hurley.
Did anyone really notice Power tonight? The Sunderland captain?
Imagine Kevin Ball or Lee Cattermole or Gary Bennett on the pitch tonight?
Sorry but tonight really hurt.
LJ, you know if you go all hyperbolic as you did and build up expectations and it falls flat you don't ever trust the people you went out on a limb for.
There are players there, whether possibly they aren't fully recovered from injuries (BW or Flanagan) or just waiting for the next big contract (CW) or going back to their clubs (like JJ) or sadly just don't have the legs anymore (GL) or who are just shit (I'm a happy clapper so leave it to you to fill in the initials) but that performance defined not only the season for me but the fall from grace of the club I have, as many have, invested a lifetime of support in. All those grey gut wrenched saturdays at 5 o clock.
I've posted before about how Sunderland teaches you how to be a stoic in the face of disappointment but unless he drastically changes the team on Saturday the crowd will be toxic if they they get off to a slow start.
Start the rebuild now.
Get the youngsters in.
Doesn't matter if we get tonked after tonight.
It is the future we have to and can get behind.

Yes, I thought he was absolutely f***ing dogshit tonight

But only because he's a forward mover like
He really was. If only that was why I thought his performance was a disgrace.

He’s worse than the lot of them. Cause unlike most who are just shit- if he could be bothered he’s got the talent. Can only be arsed for about 5 mins a game.

Yep, sadly and rather embarrassingly for me I’ve only fairly recently realised that’s the case! Whatever happens with the rest of the play off games at least we have an opportunity with this new owner and team to build properly again for the longer term.

fingers crossed for the 2nd leg, I’m lucky that I’ve managed to get tickets for it so I’ll cheer them on until there’s no hope left, but I can’t see us getting through.
Yeah it feels like this is the end of the bad days for the club and we either sneak out of this league and rebuild in the Championship, or we stay in League One and rebuild from here - either way we should be seeing the back of most of this squad and getting some decent players in. Disappointment for this season aside, the future is bright.

Great to be positive but we've had this 'feel good' feeling before. Actions speak louder than words. Some of the jabuary signings leave me a bit unsure of whats to come. Winchester, stewart.

Agreed. Tonight was an embarrassment, but KLD seems to sorting out the mess behind the scenes. Not sure I’d trust Johnson with the rebuild mind
