Liam Rosenior

To be fair it's his career so I've got no issue with him turning jobs down. It's very, very easy to lose your reputation as a manager/ head coach. He did pretty well overall at Hull but if he fails in his next role he probably won't be getting the likes of Burnley, or even us in our current position, wanting to speak with him.

Given how vital it is for him to succeed in his next role I think it's absolutely fair enough for him to walk away if something doesn't feel right, especially if he feels he won't have enough autonomy to feel confident that he can achieve the results needed. We don't know why he walked away, but if I was him I wouldn't be risking my reputation on whoever Speakman signs (especially given recent windows) and having to hope I work well with the existing coaches.

There's definitely a risk that burnley don't want him and he might have a long wait. Might even end up having to take something less than ideal just to get back in the game if things go wrong, but that's his risk to take and I don't think he's yet at the stage of having to take something he's not sure about. We just need to look at why we've struggled to attract anyone and decide whether we really want to be headstrong and crack on as we are, or whether we might benefit by making a few changes
Very good post and at this point I think we need to this in bold more urgently than getting a coach in (immediately). Could be we can go back to some with a better offer based on a better approach.

Personally I'm delighted that he isn't coming to SAFC. He was never the answer and would have gone the distance within 6 to 9 months or so. What it does show on the part of Rosenior is common sense and a realisation that he was onto a loser right from the start.

SAFC cannot go on as they are ie putting Dodds up as some sort of answer to the Asst Manager issue. He is a youth coach and that's where he should disappear back to. It's bizarre how Speakman has such a devotion to him at first term level.

the club is all over the place here and this part of the model simply wont work.

Its pathetic and I cant believe that anyone with then interests of the club at heart sees SAFC's position as one that's tenable.
Also Speakman himself was an academy director at Birmingham I think.

They're effectively looking for someone to be the public face of Speakman's recruitment low cost lucky dips and KLD's tightarse budget. You'd have to trust the pair of them implicitly before agreeing to go out and front up for them after every match.
They're taking away responsibilities and agency from the head coach but we all know he's the one who'll get peddled if we're not in a playoff spot .

I knew this was gonna happen, think I said earlier in the thread I’d gotten use to the idea of him coming in so he’d reject us. Few days later and that very thing happened, it’s becoming clearer by the day and by the rejections mounting that something is seriously off with this club behind the scenes like.

I have similar concerns and misgivings as we continue to wait and watch whilst everyone else seemingly identifies and appoints managers without issues at every turn. It's becoming increasingly embarrassing and worrying in all honesty that the 3rd or 4th choice has now declined the role for whatever reason. The wider implications of our best young talent potentially leaving due to the uncertainty surrounding the club and not knowing who the head coach is likely to be is one not worth thinking about either.

Who has rejected us, Still and Rosenior?

it smacks of ego to me. I see it in my work life. They come up with a plan, and ignore any changes or amendments to it because their ego wont survive it falling on its arse. Has a lot to do with being surrounded with only 'positive people' IMO

Agree mate, you’ve gotta look at the evidence when you have a “plan” you don’t throw the baby out with the bath water when things don’t go right however you don’t stuck rigidly to a plan because it worked at some point. That’s what’s always worried me about this lot, it’s either pigheadedness stupidity or incompetence that sees them sticking so rigidly to the whole model when it’s clear just a slight tweak given what we’ve learned could garner better results. They’ll stick with it till the ship sinks imho.

I remember starting a new job as young man full of ideas, every suggestion was ignored by the old hands .There was a lad there who had been through the same experience ,and his words stuck we me since .What he said was that if my ideas were right then they had been doing things wrong for years
