IMO Benitez has taken the easy option with the mags, simply because he's hasn't been offered another half decent job. There's a good reason for that, his record over the past few seasons is poor.
He's now working a 3 hour drive away from his family and is being very handsomely rewarded.
Managerial luminaries such as Mick McCarthey and Roy Keane have quite easily got us promoted from the Championship. In the grand scheme of things it's a nothing achievement.
Benitez's problems will come when the mags are promoted and are playing catch up against far better teams, players and managers. He will revert to type, play defensive, mainly losing football and the loyal toon army will reap what they have sown. Then the abuse will start.
