Convo yesterday:

Me: How do you think Beneathus will perform next year?
Skunk: Beneathus man, you sad mackem bastard, shite name, he's far better than Fat Sam and his long ball game. Storm the league and back challenging for Europe next year.
Me: Long ball game? Didn't see much of that against Everton. When we relegated yous.
Skunk: You didn't f***ing relegate us man!! We relegated ourselves.
Me: Oh right. So yous didn't go down after we humped Everton?
Skunk: Well, aye, but yous didn't do it you stupid mackem twat
Me: Did we beat Everton?
Skunk: Aye
Me: Did that game send yous down?
Skunk: FUCK OFF MACKEM CUNT!!!

Stomped off in a huff :lol:

It's great fun watching them seethe.
What part of "If we didn't get three points against Everton, we would of been relegated now"

Their current team is nothing like the last set they had in the Championship. The current crop wouldn't get near the play offs, such an incredible lack of heart.

However, I can't imagine Beneathus doesn't know this and he'll bring in 7 or 8 new players over the summer. I may occasionally check out their results next season but I will despair if I see any "official match threads" on a championship team on the smb...

In the final few weeks of the season they got beat off Norwich and could only draw against a demoralised Villa side both of whom they will be competing against next year. Throw in a defeat to Sheff Wed in the cup (albeit under Tufty but with many of their spineless players).
Despite this people think they are 'going to piss it'. They may do but there's hardly compelling evidence is there?

How so? Isn't the standard pretty crap?
You just need to be a strong settled team to boss it nowadays. Of course they will duff most teams at home, more due to atmosphere and travel distance over a punishing schedule than anything, but going away 23 times in a season you need a team ethic.

Their back 4 is garbage and injury-prone minus Janmaat - Coloccini and Taylor could stroll the Championship 7 years ago but not now. Darlow is a mid-table Championship keeper. Surely they will lose some of their higher earners like Mitrovic, Townsend and Sissoko. Barely any of their squad has promotion experience. No English core like Nolan, Barton, Carroll before.

I think they will make play-offs due to easy home games but not anywhere higher. I see Norwich as being far better-equipped for that league and the most likely to finish top 2. Derby have a settled core of experienced Championship players who just need proper management - they now have Pearson. If Brighton keep their best players like Dunk Knockaert and Hemed then they will be up there. Looks like Di Matteo is going in to Villa - he's done it before. There is always a surprise package as well. Bournemouth came from nowhere and Brentford almost did the same under Warburton. Sheff Wed will spend for automatic this season with their new owners.

It is by no means a foregone conclusion.

aye , gotta be hot favourites to come straight back , but its noocassel were talking about and they might not

which isnice

Why hot favourites? For example, what price in a straight match with Norwich?

I would say 4/7 mags, 5/4 Norwich - and there are 22 other teams!

They are 5/2 with bookies which they will be happy to lay til the cows come home!

A 46 game slogathon.

They might, but there's a fair chance they won't. A heartbreaking play off loss would be champion, followed by mediocrity, another relegation, then administration followed by liquidation.

Deal
