Lee Johnson - potential replacements

if we lose this sat hes gone like, the away support will turn , still time to turn it round mind but my concern is that he will always be the mediocre nearly man , we were pre warned before he came here - its promotion or nothing.
Think he's here for the season marra. Our young owner seems to have brought in relatively inexperienced staff who probably believe the fog that comes out of Johnson's mouth. Don't think they'll sack him.

I was joking with that bit, although the more I think about it the more I think John Terry would be a good appointment and potentially have a similar effect on the club, the fans and our profile as Keane did back in the day.

As much as I hated being referred to as “Roy Keane’s Sunderland” I’d happily be “John Terry’s Sunderland” if he got us out of this shithole of a league!
If we appointed John Terry, in any capacity, I would give up on this club completely. The man is an abomination.

Might be worth looking into which former players are newly qualified coaches? Someone who will adopt the playing culture of SAFC and make it their own instead of bringing in new ideas/methods from previous clubs they've failed at. Imagine someone like Sergio Ramos (ok I know he's way above our level!) breathing fire into the players and them playing with his spirit? That's the type of manager we need, a one that players respect and fear at the same time.

One of my West Ham supporting mates knows most his family. Apparently they're not very nice in the slightest. So JT hasn't had the best of role models, hence his behavior.

Realistically he's going nowhere soon. We're sat on 32 points from 17 games and are 5 points off 2nd place with 2 games in hand.
I genuinely think that will change if we lose on Saturday. One win in 8 after a one win in 10 at the end of last year - following on from a similar record in previous jobs will have alarm bells ringing. We may spend all day on this board but Speakman and KLD spend all day, every day looking at how the club is performing - every thought expressed on here will have gone through Speakman and KLD's minds - they aren't dummies.

I mentioned Ryan Lowe and Daniel Farke is an obvious one - people may ask 'why would they join Sunderland' but its down to the ambition of KLD. If he's here until the end of the season and fails as expected Jordan Henderson may be interested along with someone more experienced - that would be a risk but an intriguing one.

It's all well and good calling for the current manager's head, but people need to be realistic about who his successor will be.

Given the new regime, it will be a head coach rather than a manager. So any manager who wants full control of transfers that are being suggested is out of the running straight away (e.g. Warnock, McCarthy).

Managers who are a division above and/or who are doing well in their current role are not going to leave (e.g. Critchley, Warne).

We are also not going to pay a significant compensation package (if any), so that rules out managers under longer contracts.

And any out of work manager who will walk into a job a level above won't be coming here either and will be holding on for that (e.g. Farke).

So, in the current managerial climate, we are looking at managers either out of work and desperate to get back in, or managers who would be swallowed up and last 5 minutes here (e.g. Lowe, Evatt) who may not be options anyway as their clubs would be owed compensation which we may not pay.

Here's a selection of managers who fit the above criteria at the present time that I would deem to be realistic:

- Adkins
- Monk
- Woodgate
- Neil Harris

There is a distinct possibility here of making a change for the sake of it and I would urge caution on blowing the whole thing to smithereens to end up with someone like Garry Monk.

People who think we are going to be sacking Johnson and attracting Allardyce or someone like that back to take over, are living in another world.
Woodgate hates the mags and claims he can organise a defence, could do worse.

Henderson sounds as thick as pigshit tbh.

Who says, and why not?

I get that. However, the lad's 32 next summer and he may not want to play at a lower level if he's not going to get a regualr game at Liverpool. It may be a nonsense idea but I get the feeling Henderson may want to go into management like Gerrard.

We’d be a step up for Ryan Lowe TBF. Even though Plymouth are above us in the table, they have lost their last 2 and I think we all expect them to naturally drift into mid-table.

I think he might too, but not for a few years yet at least. The dream of course is that he comes home and guides us to European glory.
