Giving him a 6 year deal is definitely up there with one of the thickest things we've doneOnly turned 36 today.
I feel like he retired a decade ago.
Yes. Assumed he was quite a bit older.Only turned 36 today.

Was unreal when he first signed before the first big injury. Was always a solid player for us and helped keep us in the prem for a good amount of seasons. When he scored (which was very rare) they were always screamers as well.Giving him a 6 year deal is definitely up there with one of the thickest things we've done
He genuinely cared about the club too.Was unreal when he first signed before the first big injury. Was always a solid player for us and helped keep us in the prem for a good amount of seasons. When he scored (which was very rare) they were always screamers as well.
Wouldn't leave a penny behind.Giving him a 6 year deal is definitely up there with one of the thickest things we've done
He was definitely close. I always felt his passing range was criminally underrated too. Never got the credit for being technically a decent footballer too.He was absolutely immense in thd League Cup final against City at Wembley until he ran out of gas, best player on the pitch. I think at one point he was close to an England call up.
Well done Quinny and ByrneGiving him a 6 year deal is definitely up there with one of the thickest things we've done
He was very good when he first signed and was excellent under Poyet in the midfield base role, it was just idiocy to give him that huge contract when he was already showing signs of slowing down and there wasn't particularly a risk of losing out on a big fee if he left. Part of a string of decisions which nearly finished the club off.Was unreal when he first signed before the first big injury. Was always a solid player for us and helped keep us in the prem for a good amount of seasons. When he scored (which was very rare) they were always screamers as well.
same as poyet said of his contract...dont know why anyone expects them to take lees money than thy are legally entitled to..footballers are not usually very bright but they arent menatlly defenctive..Wouldn't leave a penny behind.
Hip injuries . Kiss of death for a footballer. Ger right, flare up , get right, flare up .Was unreal when he first signed before the first big injury. Was always a solid player for us and helped keep us in the prem for a good amount of seasons. When he scored (which was very rare) they were always screamers as well.
It's Sunderland. It's what we do.Left too early.
Was just thinking about the headache it's gonna cause some people now we kick off at 12.30 on the last day of the season They can stay longer than usual but will be desperately trying to find an excuse to get away on 70 minsIt's Sunderland. It's what we do.
Chief Executive gives unusual 6 year contract to player, then quits, then becomes his agent then comes out with the infamous "he won't leave a penny behind quote" while he sits and says nowt and is still getting paid even after leaving us. Just never sat right with me.same as poyet said of his contract...dont know why anyone expects them to take lees money than thy are legally entitled to..footballers are not usually very bright but they arent menatlly defenctive..
