IIRC it now has to be “at cost” which enables the transport commissioner to argue that due to necessary rescheduling and extra security, this is the true cost. So no one’s actually gouging the fans to make a profit (not that this makes it any better), but it’s a daft situation which should have been sorted years ago and awful PR for FIFA and the USA

The tipping in US puts me off going back. I didn’t realise even simple things like barmen expect them. I was in vegas in a couple of year ago. Ordered 2 beers gave him the money and put the change in my pocket. Barman starts shouting ‘tight, tight!’ At the top of his voice. I said here sorry mate it’s different here to where I’m from, but no need to go on like that, and gave him a dollar. He scrunched my receipt up into a ball and threw it at me. Felt like asking for my dollar back! 🤷🏻‍♂️😂
 
It’s odd. I know plenty of Americans, individually and amongst themselves tend to be brilliant people.

But as a collective they are a bunch of over confident bullying twats
 
I assume that in true American style they think they're going to win the whole thing?

Wouldn't be surprised if there's a lot of cash being handed over to keep them in the tournament until at least the quarters.

Hate it and its slowly coming over here, service charge and then expect a tip. Got a great idea just pay staff a reasonable wage, add the charge onto the goods you sell and then you don't need to make customers feel like crap for not giving a 25% tip on bringing me a bottle 10 yards. America could be so good if it wasnt for the people.

Been on that train to the MetLife. Terminus at the ground, so it’s canny, but it’s the equivalent of ten stops on the Metro. A price hike isn’t surprising, but that’s absolute unjustifiable profiteering.

They are, but every time I have been there we've always walked across the dual carriageway to the nearest Marriott to continue drinking and avoid the transport queues and traffic. Sounds lethal, but the dual carriageways are more like car parks for the hour after the final whistle.

Going back a few years now like.

Correct. The Mrs and I took a free overnight, sleeper train from St Petersburg to Moscow at the 2018 tournament. Pristine sheets and a bunk each - and all for nowt! Some contrast to the forthcoming shitshow, that. 🙄

we are jumping on a coach from a sports bar in jersey that’s been organised, £25pp. Must be expecting a fair bit of traffic as told can bring our own cans , only 19 minutes drive by google maps 😂🤦‍♂️

She, Gov Sherril, was handed a rotten apple. This bs was settled before the election and now it’s looking like she’s got her fingers in it as well. This is FIFA taking the piss. There’s multiple NFL games played the each season as its home to two teams. That infrastructure is there, tested and working well. I honestly wish she would tell FIFA that’s it’s either the way it goes for any other sporting event or f*ck off.
I understand the parking there is over $200 as well. Not sure if true though.
