Latest World Cup rip-off

The World Cup is gonna be lifting for fans that actual go ain’t it. Haway man I bet that same journey is about £15-20 on a normal day. I can understand adding some sort of uplift but they’re fleecing people right left and centre.

Normal fare is about 12 dollars. In Russia all transport was free for anybody who had a game ticket , even between cities

Sure I read it was normally £8 for the journey.

£111 to get the 30 minute train ride from New York to the Met Life stadium

However, if you take the bus, it will only be £80.

Anyone going?
Listened to a very recent The Athletic podcast where they discussed the price hikes and what to expect.... and it's shocking. Well worth a Listen.

I'm listening to The Athletic FC Podcast | Why is the World Cup such a rip-off? on Podbean, check it out!

I was told - miht be bollicks - half time for the final is 25 minutes and involves some sort of show involving coldplay. If this happens lets all agree to never let north america host another World cup.

It's true, yep

I’m going to Vancouver to visit my son and family. We are also flying to New York for England v Panama. We haven’t discussed this yet but I think I’d rather walk than get ripped off on a train! FIFA have ripped us off with the tickets, this is just crazy!

I read on X (so might be rubbish) that there’s another station about an hour walk from the stadium and Europeans were saying we’ll just head there and walk it. Americans then pointed out that’s actually illegal you’re not allowed to walk there. Something to do with the roads all being dual carriageways it’s never been designed to accommodate pedestrians. Crazy.

You’re not allowed to walk up to the ground I was told yesterday

Should have read this.

Hope you enjoy the game. I just wouldn't go on principle - it's beyond belief the lack of respect these bastards have. The worst of unprincipled capitalism - Trumpian dystopia.

It’s a bit more complicated. It’s the transport chief not wanting to pass the costs onto her taxpayers. She’s clearly trying to appeal to her base and get FIFA to cough up. Should have been sorted at the bidding stage.
