I quite like Marku. Didn't realise it was tomorrow. There's a Boxxer card on tomorrow (Aye a Thursday) Some gadgie called Florian Marku headlining it and it's free on Youtube and Facebook.
Yer elcome
Dubois couldnt defend a jab and going by the Bryan fight doesn't look like he's learnt even though it was a fairly one sided fight when Bryan threw the odd jab it landed spot on every time.Re: Dubois, I don't think history and the ending of the Joyce fight have been kind to him. But in terms of scorecards at least I actually had it dead level at the time (haven't watched it back). Thought they each took turns in dominating a round then taking a round off. Dubois threw everything at him then exhausted himself, Joyce allowed him to burn himself out then jabbed his head off and vice versa. It wasn't completely one-sided, but as we know, Joyce has an iron chin and could take his best shots and Dubois showed his lack of experience by trying to land the power shots with every punch rather than pacing himself and setting the shots up with the jab. Don't blame him for quitting in the circumstances though.
Would certainly favour him over the Hughie Fury's of this world. Not everyone can take a shot like Joyce can.
That's a big shame. One of the best posters on this thread for sure.Shame to see Titus has deleted his account. One of the best posters in this thread.
Said something about wanting to focus on tennis instead. In fact what happened to @The Bridge Lad .....was great in the boxing threads....
Me too mate, it’d be the most fascinating and interesting HW fights for a few decadesHope we get to find out either way mate.
Would be absolutely massive like.Me too mate, it’d be the most fascinating and interesting HW fights for a few decades
Superb and surprising breakdown mate cheers !You must be logged on to see media itemsWill be interesting to watch it not after 2 solid days on the drink on a stag weekend
Skip to 17mins for the start.
Ok, sat and paid proper attention and scored the rounds:
1 - Very close, but I'd give it to AJ 1-0
2 - Clear AJ 2-0
3 - Slight edge to Usyk 2-1
4 - Very little landed for the first 2 mins, but Usyk did well towards the end 2-2
5 - I'm counting the borderline low shot as I don't think it was low - AJ edges it, just. 3-2
So far only the 2nd and 4th are clear - one each. But very surprisingly I'm 3-2 up for AJ so far, but its very very close and I can see how someone could put it 4-1 to Usyk.
But at this point, AJ is doing nothing wrong at all - he's pacing himself and its a very very close fight and if anything, he's landed the better body shots that would usually be a good tactic at this part of the fight.
I'm noticing the sky commentry team seem to think blocked and fresh air shots are landing all the time though!
6 - Good round in general. AJ 4-2
7 - Another good round, couldn't split them - 4-2
8 - Clear AJ round good body shots 5-2
9 - Best round in the fight for AJ 6-2
10 - AJ got wrecked - 6-3
11 - These 2 aren't in doubt - 6-4
12 - 6-5
Final score 6-5
This has surprised me! And I'm sure people will jump on this and tell my why I'm wrong
I know that a "scoring" punch is anything that lands in the scoring zone, but a lot of Usyks landed shots barely touch at all, and "its not what I like", as you hear about judging all the time.
Also finding it surprisingly hard to cope with the camera cuts - feels like you miss a few shots due to that and the ref getting in the way, especially when the rounds are very close as some were.
Frustrating thing was that AJ had all his success to the body really. But almost all of it at distance. He never tried to get close all fight. Can't help but feel that was a mistake.
Still he was much better in this fight.
.
The body shots DEFINITELY hurt Usky mind. He braved it out impressively. But Fury will see that, and will get close and bang the body to bit imo
WBC have confirmed Wilder v Helenius and Ruiz v Ortiz are eliminator bouts.
Winners fight each other next with the winner of that becoming the next mandatory.
I did mention the possbility of Fury v Wilder 4 happening but he needs to get there first... Both Ruiz and Ortiz would give him problems - Ortiz won all 5 rounds before the KO which went viral in the last fight, Ruiz ... Just seems like a waste of talent to me, left Reyonso's gym after 1 fight and got fat again... Could lose to Ortiz.
I'm shocked.Superb and surprising breakdown mate cheers !
Overall it was a difficult fight to call really, close but at times now i think at the time i saw it 9-3 Usyk and i havent watched it back sober to score it just review and enjoy
Will watch it back and try and score it with your post in mind mate

I'm all for 10-10 rounds personally. Just say edging one round, then getting totally battered in the next seems a very harsh way to end up 19-19 on the cards.Decent summary. I gave more of the earlier rounds than you to Usyk. Mainly because, I thought a lot of the shots which appeared to land in real time looked liked they were expertly dodged by mm during the replays, making Usyk slightly ahead. Appreciate that judges cannot do that and margins are so fine I might be incorrect.
However, it was very difficult to split a lot of the rounds as they were fairly even until the more obvious later rounds.
I think it should be more accepted that boxers/judges can score even rounds without exceptional circumstances. Either fighter could have been potentially 3 nil down by round 4 in that fight and that would have been harsh on any of them IMO. It was essentially two fighters feeling each other out without any really taking the initiative
I was scoring jabs mind, just not wavy-arm taps. That's the nuances of judging, how much you value 'cause & effect' bigger punches and a steady accumulation of jabs.
Unless you're a British world title judge, in which case you've already made your mind up before the first bell, commonly called the Josh Taylor Effect.
Yeah, that's not quite how I did it. I judged which punches had impact, which ones actually made a difference & who won any exchanges. i.e agression in the match. You don't score rounds on how many punches landed, that's Olympic Boxing scoring and they did away with that for a reason.
The 2 main criteria's are who's the main aggressor and who has ring control - Why do they this is because just because you score a knockdown doesn't mean you've won the round, you can have a 9-9 round if you're a pussy.
There's other criteria's such as clean blows but again that goes back to the Olympic style scoring they did away with.
Not keen on even rounds but think that 10-9 for a narrowly won round, 10-8 for a clear round, 10-7 for a knockdown and going on from there would be a much better way of doing it than the current system.I'm all for 10-10 rounds personally. Just say edging one round, then getting totally battered in the next seems a very harsh way to end up 19-19 on the cards.

Mind, when did you last see someone get dropped but win the round? Yeah, never. Annoys the hell out of me that its automatically 2 points for a knock down.
