Latest boxing crack

I've been watching the jack Johnson documentary on PBS America (unforgivable blackness) it's brilliant, the bloke was simply one in a million both in and out of the ring...

There's the one story of him paying double for a speeding fine because he told the officer he was going to speed on his way back too
Watched the Showtime documentary on Sonny Liston earlier and really enjoyed it. Sounds as though a lot of powerful/dangerous people wanted him dead mind

He would've been an absolute nightmare to fight like

Couple of interesting legal developments taking place:
  • The Frampton vs McGuigan court case is finally underway
  • Canelo looking to sue Golden Boy and DAZN
DAZN apparently want a minimum of 1 "premium" opponent for Canelo a year under their contract. Don't class Jacobs and Kovalev under that criteria for 2019 or Smith and Saunders for potential 2020 fights but would class Khabib, Jorge Masvidal and a comebacking De La Hoya as premium opponents

Sounds like they have a bunch of complete amateurs running the show

How can a matter of opinion be upheld in law?

Don't think that's the sole reason he's taking them to court. Just thought it was interesting at how stupid the decision makes at DAZN seem to be.

You'd have to imagine that's Golden Boy finished as a big time promoter now. Canelo's been their only mega-draw since the Haymon and Schaefer fucked them over and Ryan Garcia will almost certainly be following him away from GBP.

First time I've heard of AJ being willing to drop belts to avoid mandatories....

😁 Or more charitably, to secure the fight he wants.

In all seriousness I think Hearn is saying they will but it is clear as day that AJ is desperate for a shot at undisputed and they have painted themselves into a corner in terms of negotiating a split. Why would you not make sure someone who desperately wants what you have pay a very full price for the chance to get it.
