Latest boxing crack

It isn't already??? I didn't know that. How can an online buisiness "not apply" in the UK? Surely you just had to pay the fee and access the website?
Cant see it working here like

Most blokes in the U.K. will have multiple subscriptions already
Sky sports
By sports
Pornhub Premium
Etc etc

Then dazn for a couple of fights A year you’d hope to get on sky sports.

Its just a website though - why does it need to be "launched" in the UK? It is because they're taking content OFF other people?

I pay for fuck all me mind, so I shuoldn't really speak

Be to do with broadcasting rights. Similar with netflix having different content in different regions etc.

Don't know what sort of cards dazn will be putting on while Matchroom are still tied to sky, unless they are looking to terminate their exclusive deal early? I thought it ran until May 2021.

Will be also interesting to see how much money Dazn throw at the UK market non boxing wise. If I was them I'd be considering buying up the rights to the US sports first, the problem with US sports not breaking into the mainstream over here is the time of day they are usually on. A decent on demand platform with some additional content to get us into the intricacies of those sports could really offer something different at a reasonable price point.

I expect sky will fight hard to keep their PL rights as if they lose that they are fucked.

Aye, can't see it working for anyone really.

Sky have backed themselves into a corner with the exclusive deal. There's fuck all else out there other than Warren with BT.

Matchroom have benefitted massively from Sky's platform and are trying to crack a market that doesn't exist - most people will subscribe to Sky for the football and the boxing will be an added bonus, they won't pay to stream when there are so many illegal streams out there for free and a lot will be on at 5am. It's not like in America where the $100 annual subscription is good value as a PPV costs $80 anyway.

BT won't benefit - Fury is PPV anyway and people are more likely to cancel than fork out just to see Dubois, Frampton and Yarde.

They might do alright on people like me who don't subscribe to sky, I don't have the time to watch enough football to make it worth the money and there is no way I would pay for sky + sports channels just for the Saturday fight nights.

I would pay a few quid a month for boxing alone though if I was getting at least 1 decent live card a month and some good quality additional content. The sky subscription prices are too much for me to stomach when a lot of decent boxing cards are ppv anyway and I can watch the full fights for nowt on their own youtube channel a few days later.

Looking forward to watching Troy Williamson defend his title & fight for another one when he's fighting in Glasgow on the 2nd May. Local lad (Darlington) that's done well in every fight he's had so far; speak with his cousin on a regular basis and he sounds like he's a really canny lad.

Shame Warren's messing him about.
