Large Explosion Near Oxford

These AD plants started popping up everywhere a while back, the design briefs were always half arsed and seemed to be made up as they went along.

It would have had a lightning protection system but clearly not designed to the right standard to prevent explosion. There’s no way it should have ruptured a large tank like that, strike risk is very high with them being so big and metallic.

solutions is not complicated.
1) Weather warning - lightening possible.
2) Open the valves and let out some of the fart gas.
3) OXford smells strongly of fart for an hours or so.
Ipso facto. No explosion.

Petrochem sites normally flare the excess gas (for a variety or reasons). It’s a proven technology.

yeah but this is offgas from an anaerobic digester. it is basically just fart. ( Although I accept it could easily be controlled by flare)
