Edit: it was probably a contained explosion/fire ball. The one I attended was 1.5m litres of crude oil that was spilling, so a wider explosion

Varies a lot I think. I’ve seen digester tanks from 50m3 to 8000m3, with the gas contained within a limited section of the roof space

The small area and limited expansion when exploding would make it look like an atomic bomb.
