Lakes are far too popular. Northumberland coast is where the cool kids go. But Dales to answer your question
Love the northern / western lakes , dislike the southern lakes intensely.
We were at Malham Cove in Yorkshire on Saturday for the day anywhere round there is very nice , a week might be a stretch like.

They even sell the Lancashire Post as the local paper in the Southern Lakes...father in law lives in Kendal.
Never seen Butter Pies there though.
